Start near the Saint-Nectaire cemetery, Place du Marchidial, on the edge of the D150 (free parking in August 2024).
(S/E) Head towards the village centre and the town hall.
(1) Continue straight on to the Church of Notre-Dame du Mont Cornadore.
(2) Walk around it and return to the town hall.
(1) At the corner of the church, turn into the small downhill street on the left. Ignore a turn-off to the left and continue along a path. At the three-way junction, turn right and climb up to a junction on a flat stretch.
(3) Turn right, stay on the main path, pass five hairpin bends and reach a fork. Head straight ahead, almost level, and you’ll soon reach the troglodytic site of the Grottes de Châteauneuf.
(4) Return to the previous fork and climb the steep path on the left. Pass the summit of the hill, then after a descent and an ascent, continue straight ahead to reach a road; follow this to the right until you reach the top of the hill.
(5) Turn onto the track on the left and arrive at the Menhir de Freydefont. This is located about twenty metres away in a field on the right-hand side (please respect the crops).
(6) Return to the previous junction.
(5) Head to the car park opposite, then continue along the path through the woodland until you reach the Freydefont Menhir burial mound.
(7) Go round it on the right and continue along the path, which is barely visible at first, as it heads rightwards downhill. Reach the bottom of the valley and follow it downhill. Caution: some sections of this path are short but steep. In wet weather, you are bound to slip for up to ten metres. When you reach a clearing, continue for a few more metres, turn right at the bottom of the gully and reach a fork.
(8) Continue left, downhill, then follow a path to the road. Follow it to the right with care, skirting the cemetery, and reach Place du Marchidial (S/E).
