Description of the walk

The route starts from the church in Donzy-le-Pertuis.

(S/E) Head down towards the cemetery, walk past it and continue down the road to the sewage treatment plant (no foul smell).

(1) Once past the treatment plant, take the path that climbs up to the left. Cross the D15 and follow the path opposite to the road, then follow the road to the right for about a hundred metres.

(2) At the start of the left-hand bend, ignore the 90° turn to the right and take the stony path that heads diagonally (GR®76A). Walk past the farm buildings on your right and, at the next junction, continue straight ahead. Keep going straight on until you reach a junction with a track signpostedGR®76towards Blanot on the left.

(3) Head uphill to the right then take the first left (GR®76A).

(4) Cross the road (D446) at Col de la Croix and continue straight ahead on the path which generally follows the summit ridge. At the track, turn right and continue to a junction (Mont Saint-Romain signpost) with a sign pointing down to the caves on the left.

(5) Continue straight ahead towards Mont Saint-Romain to admire the lovely view (there is also a map post positioned above the inn).

(6) After enjoying the view, head back down to the previous junction.

(5) Continue to the right along the path (marked with a Blue Rectangle) which follows the valley floor downhill to a path climbing up to the left that leads to the Blanot Caves.

(7) Make a round trip to the caves. Visit them, then return to the previous junction.

(7) On your return, head left, staying at the bottom of the valley, until you reach a junction. Turn left and head towards Vivier. Walk down the road until you reach a path on the left (Beau Cul signpost), heading towards La Musette.

(8) Follow this path, passing the wash house, then at the exit of the left-hand bend, take the path on the right running alongside a low stone wall. Continue for about 200 m until you reach the start of a path climbing to the left.

(9) Take this and climb a steep slope for about a hundred metres (the most challenging part of the walk). Once at the top, turn right until you reach a junction with a sign indicating: Les Échats Loups.

(10) Turn onto the path on the left and continue uphill to a junction (Bois de la Roche signpost).

(11) Follow the path to the left (Route Blanot link), then turn right towards Notre-Dame des Roches. Continue along the ridge and reach a fork after leaving the woods.

(12) Turn right towards Notre-Dame des Roches (take a short 50-metre detour to see the statue) then continue along the path down towards Donzy-le-Pertuis. At the road, follow it for about 50 metres to the left, then take the path on the left to the D15, cross the D15 and head to the church (S/E).

A lovely route, with very little tarmac.
Well signposted. However, several walkers in our group measured it at around 16km.
We set off at 9.30 am from Donzy and were back by 3.15 pm. We stopped for a picnic at the wash house in Vivier. A small hamlet with some lovely restored houses
From April onwards, the Mont Saint Romain inn is open. The view is magnificent in fine weather.

There are some lovely views in this lush green landscape. Vineyards, meadows and woods alternate... and there are plenty of butterflies on the blackberry bushes at this time of year.
