Start of the hike: car park in Ougney on the edge of the Grande Rue, near the old tower.
(S/E) With your back to the tower, follow Grande Rue to the left and pass a wash house. Take thefirst left, Rue du Barboux, and pass the war memorial. At the crossroads, turn right onto Rue du Four, which climbs slightly.
(1) When the street turns sharply to the left, leave it and take a path on the right. Keep heading south-west and climb, first on open ground and then through woods. At a fork, keep to the right.
(2) At the intersection (elevation 276), turn right. The path soon turns left and then right. Continue until you see a road.
(3) Shortly before the road, turn left. Climb up into the Bois de Bermont, heading south-west, and ignore all the paths branching off to the sides. After a right-hand bend and then a left-hand bend, you will reach the summit of Bermont.
(4) Descend the southern slope. At the fork (elevation 321), keep left. At the next intersection (elevation 266; small building on the right), turn left.
(5) At the T-junction, follow a tarmac path to the left. Cross a small road and continue straight ahead. Go up Combe au Fourneau and reach the edge of Bois des Belles Charmes.
(6) Then turn right towards the Maquis de Saligney monument and walk along the woods on your left. Then enter the woods and follow the path around a few bends. At the crossroads (elevation 304), continue straight ahead to the monument.
(7) Then take the dirt track that branches off to the right (south-south-west). Stay on this track, which soon turns south-east. Walk along a fence on your left.
(8) At the crossroads, turn right and go down to a road. First turn right then left to take a path (section no. 7). Continue straight ahead until you reach a T-junction.
(9) Then turn left. Leave the woods and continue along the edge of the path bordering the field on your right. Continue through the woods.
(10) At the next intersection, take the path that branches off to the left into Franc Bois. Come out onto another path, veer slightly to the right and continue along the edge of the woods.
(11) At the crossroads, follow the path to the right, which immediately turns left. Stay on this path until you reach the D238. Follow the road to the left towards the village of Gendrey. Turn left (unmarked) and enter the village via Rue de la Fontaine des Auges. Then turn left and you will immediately come to a roundabout (church opposite).
(12) Turn right onto Rue du Clos Ardot (D36). After about 300 metres, take thefirst left onto Chemin de Saint-Aubin. Continue along this road, ignoring the road that branches off to the left under a bridge. Cross a stream and join the D12.
(13) Follow the road to the left towards Taxenne. Enter Taxenne via Rue du Château. In the village, turn left onto Rue de la Fontaine. At the crossroads, turn left onto Rue de la Vèze. Cross a stream and you will reach a crossroads.
(14) Turn right onto Rue du Puits. Continue straight ahead, heading north-northwest. At a fork (elevation 227), continue straight ahead, ignoring the path that branches off to the left. Enter the village of Ougney via Rue du Barboux.
(15) Shortly before the crossroads you took on the way out, turn right onto Rue de l'École and pass a wash house. Ignore Impasse de la Tour on the left and cross the bridge over the Vèze. Then turn left to follow the river. You will come out onto Grande Rue. Follow it to the left and you will soon reach the car park (S/E).
