Take the shuttle bus from Corte to reach the start of the trail in the Restonica Valley. (Regarding the shuttle bus: check details with the Tourist Office).
(S/E) Cross the footbridge and take the path on the right.
Keep your wits about you, as several paths cross here. Once past this junction, the route becomes easy to follow.
(1) At the first junction, carry on straight ahead, passing a small cottage. At the next junction, turn left and you’ll reach another junction.
(2) Turn right. The path, which is entirely shaded, alternates between two successive ascents and descents, without any real difficulty. Throughout the walk, enjoy the panoramic views and the typical scenery of the gorges. You’ll arrive at the campsite; you must not use the toilet facilities or take water without asking permission. Walk straight through it.
(3) At this point, after about 1½ hours’ walk, you have two options. For a shorter route: turn right, cross the bridge over the Restonica and head back via the D623.
Alternatively, carry on into the heart of the Restonica Gorges for even more spectacular scenery and a chance to relax. If you continue as far as the “ford”, the path is very easy to follow; from there, you can walk alongside the stream to reach some beautiful natural pools.
(4) Enjoy this spot and then head back to the junction before the campsite.
(3) Turn left and head back along the road. There’s very little traffic. There are more lovely views of the mountains. Do stick to the right-hand side, though. It takes about 40 minutes to walk back to the car park (S/E).
