Ghorepani – Naya Pol

To round off this trek, this stage is entirely downhill but similar to the previous day’s in terms of the number of steps. Then a final stretch to Naya Pol, where the atmosphere becomes increasingly urban.

This walk is part of a multi-day hike: Annapurna Circuit

Description of the walk

From the Ghorepani lodge (S), head straight down the long descent through the villages of this valley, quickly reaching Nangethanti.

(1) Continue heading south and then south-east to reach, in turn, Banthanti and Utieri, where the slope becomes steeper, until you reach Tikhedunga.

(2) You will then begin a much easier descent to reach another major river, the Bhurungdi Khola.

(3) Stay on its left bank for a long while until you reach its confluence with the Modi Khola.

(4) Cross it via the lovely footbridge and follow its left bank to the village of Naya Pol, today’s stop (E).

This is where the Annapurna Circuit ends.

Notes

Refreshing drinks in the villages.
An amazing descent down those large steps we’d already walked down the day before.

Worth a visit

The final stage of this magnificent journey around the first 8,000-metre peak conquered by a French expedition. My only regret is not having made the short climb to Poon Hill that morning to enjoy the sunrise over Annapurna South, which would also have allowed us to see the real Annapurna, which isn’t visible from the trail.
