Gedney Drove End with Old Sea Bank and new Sea Bank

Interesting walk taking in both Old Sea Bank and New Sea Bank, with the opportunity to see the seals and birdlife in this fenland joining the Wash area. Do not venture off the New Sea Bank, since the area is designated a Danger Area.

Description of the walk

The route starts and ends at the car park of the village hall in Gedney Drove End. Please make sure to get prior permission (see Notes).

(S/E) Turn left on leaving the car park, and after 100 metres take the footpath to the left off the road, then proceed about 250 metres to a T-junction (WM 1).

(1) At this waymark turn left on the old sea bank for about 600 metres. Look for a path to the right which is a continuation of Old Sea Bank. Turn right and continue along this for 500 metres, where the path splits (WM2).

(2) This waymark is the junction with the current Sea Bank (King Charles 3rd Coast path). Turn right and continue on the coast path for about 3 kilometres to reach a Y-junction (WM3).

(3) At this waymark, turn right off the coastal path to join a road for 400 metres to reach a road junction. Turn right onto Old Sea Bank and continue for 1.7 kilometres to reach the waymark 1.
