Franz glacier, Roberts Point Track via Hende's Hut

Start: Park at the car park at the end of the small road. This is the starting point for short hikes to see the glacier.

(S/E) Walk towards the trailheads and follow this well-maintained path. Go past Peter's Pool and walk down into the woodland.

(1) At the junction, turn right to take the suspension bridge over the glacier torrent. Follow the path on the opposite bank. The path is narrower and uses suspension footbridges on several occasions.

(2) Walk past Hende's Hut that can be used as a shelter and continue along the path through the boardwalk built along the cliffside. Carry on to follow the path via suspension bridges and other pleasant passages. Keep following the orange arrows.

(3) Reach a viewing platform where you can enjoy a view of the glacier. Then retrace your steps back to the car park. (S/E)

Terrain: A varied hike, not recommended for those prone to vertigo. Many roots, scramble.
