Description of the walk

Parking along the D355 towards Fort de la Fraternité.

(S/E) At the "Accès sentier côtier" sign, descend towards the ocean via a small path and turn right after a few dozen metres.

(1) At the crossroads, ignore the path leading back and take the path on the left which continues downhill. Climb the steps to Îlot du Diable and take the path on the right towards the old cannon emplacement. There is a magnificent view towards Camaret-sur-Mer. Return to the previous crossroads.

(1) Go up the path on the left. Leave the old lime kiln on your left, whose room faces the beach. Climb a few dozen metres to the wall of Fort de la Fraternité.

(2) You will see the building on the left, which appears to be the one in the best condition. Walk along the wall towards the cliff. In the distance to the north is the entrance to the Goulet de Brest. The view stretches towards Pointe Saint-Mathieu.
Leave the fort through the north gate and head straight for the path along the edge of the cliff. Follow this path across the moor, which climbs northwards, staying about fifty metres from the edge. The view is breathtaking, and soon the Fort des Capucins appears on its dark islet connected to the coast by an arched bridge.
The path turns right and approaches the road.

(3) Just before you reach it, turn left and head down towards Fort des Capucins. The path turns right, but public access to the fort is now prohibited.

(4) Take the small path on the left, which allows you to admire the fort from this balcony-like trail. You will arrive just above the fort.

(5) Enjoy the view, then turn back to return to the previous junction.

(4) Take the path opposite to reach the road. Follow the D355 on the right for about 60 metres, then cross carefully to take the carriage road to the hamlet of Kerguinou.

(6) Turn right along the small street. At the first crossroads, take the road on the left, which turns right and then left through a wooded area. You will arrive at the next crossroads.

(7) Continue straight ahead on the unpaved carriageway. Follow this road as it curves sharply to the right, then straight ahead, ignoring all junctions. At the end, you will reach a junction with a wide road.

(8) Turn right onto this road, which descends towards the D355. Turn left onto the road to reach the car park (S/E).
