Park in the centre of Étretat near the tourist office.
(S/E) Head towards the sea and the casino via Rue Monge and Boulevard René Coty. Once on the sea wall, turn right and take the steps leading to the Notre-Dame de la Garde chapel.
(1) Enjoy the view of the Aiguille and continue along the coastal path towards the north-west.
(2) At Roc Vaudieu, stay on the coastal path and head towards the Aiguille de Belval.
(3) Continue straight ahead.
(4) Take the first path on the right and continue to the village of Bénouville. In the village, turn right to pass in front of the church and the cemetery.
(5) At the next crossroads, turn left then right (do not take the D11). Turn left 150 metres further on.
Take the D11 for a short while, turning right and passing in front of the castle. Immediately afterwards, turn right and continue straight ahead after the first bend to the left.
Continue straight ahead on theGR®21. Just before the "Résidence Étoile du Matin" retirement home, continue straight ahead
(6) At the crossroads, take the road opposite, Rue Jules Gerbeau. Then head towards the sea via Rue Abbé Cochet, turning right ( you have now finished the hike on the Amont cliff side).
(7) Now head south-west towards the Aiguille. Walk along the beach and, at the end, climb the stairs to reach the top of the Porte d'Aval, with the Aiguille opposite.
(8) After enjoying the scenery, continue along the coastal path towards the south-west. Follow the golf course and, at its southern end, take the path on the right to reach the Pointe de la Courtine. Retrace your steps, turn right and then left at the place called Les Pisseuses.
(9) At the first T-junction, go straight ahead. Continue through the fields until you reach the second crossroads.
(10) Turn left.
(11) At the next crossroads, take the road opposite and slightly to the left towards Valaine. Enjoy the goat farm as you pass by. Then head back down to the D140.
(12) At the end of the paid car parks along the departmental road (traffic lights), cross to take the path that allows pedestrians to descend towards Étretat.
(13) At the post office, turn left onto Rue Alphonse Karr, then take the first street on the right. Continue along Rue des Docteurs Fidelin, then turn right onto Rue Monge to return to the starting point (S/E).
You have now completed the Falaise d'Aval hike.
