Departure from Chavanac Town Hall.
(S/E) Take the D49 towards Meymac. At the end of the village, opposite a cross, turn right and continue for 200 metres to reach a footpath.
(1) Turn right and follow the path to a stream, a tributary of the Vézère.
(2) Cross it via a footbridge and go up a grassy path to a road.
(3) Follow it to the left for about 500 metres until you reach the start of a path.
(4) Take this path to the right and enter the vast, silent peat bog.
(5) At the crossroads, turn right, cross the Vézère river via a footbridge and continue straight ahead, crossing pasture fences. Follow the discovery trail that goes straight along the fence. On this trail, after passing through a wetland area, the Cent Pierres site appears for a round trip thanks to access via a gate and , if you are lucky, you may also see Highland cows on the discovery trail. Continue straight ahead to reach the D109.
(6) Follow it to the right and continue to the next fork in the road, passing by the peat bog car park: see the information boards. Continue for 500 m on the D109 to reach a fork in the road.
(7) At a bend in the road, turn right onto a path that goes straight ahead and goes around Puy Cherfau. Continue to thesecond crossroads.
(8) Continue left along a small forest path until you reach a road.
(9) Turn right onto this road and continue until you reach another crossroads after passing Puy Bufont and Puy Peyrat.
(10) Leave this road and take a path on the right to reach a small road.
(11) Follow it straight ahead on the left to climb back up to the village of Chavanac after crossing the Pont de l'Étang bridge over the Vézère river and return to the Place de la Mairie (S/E).
