Start from the car park along the N697.
Coming from La Reid, in the direction of Remouchamps, the car park entrance is on the right-hand side of the road, just after the yellow and black sign bearing the inscription "Sougné-Remouchamps Aywaille". Coming from Remouchamps, heading towards La Reid, the car park entrance is on the left-hand side of the road, just before the "Ardenne Bleue" information sign.
(S/E) Leave the car park by going down the N697 for 150 m, just before house no. 191, turn right and go down Rue Gervova, a dead-end street. Pass the Gervova Fountain (non-potable water). After a little over 600 m, leave the asphalt road in front of the entrance to a private property.
(1) Continue straight ahead on a forest path that descends for 800 metres into the valley of the Ruisseau de la Gervova. At the bottom of the descent, turn right and cross the stream over a small bridge to reach the place known as "Ruisseau de la Gervova Alt 220 m" (picnic table under shelter).
(2) Turn left and continue along the right bank of the stream until you reach an old red stone quarry, following the yellow and red markings of a GRP® and green mountain bike routes 34 and 46.
(3) Just after this, at the Y junction, leave the marked trails and take the path on the right, following the red diamond sign. The path ends with a descent that leads to a wide dirt track, opposite some houses.
(4) Follow it to the right, still following the red diamond trail markers. After a little less than 100 m, pass a gravel path that descends to the left and, 100 m further on, ignore another gravel path that also descends to the left. The route begins to climb between the edge of the forest and meadows, on the left bank of the Ruisseau de Mainire (or Minières, depending on the map). Shortly after a pond on the left, leave the red diamond trail, which veers left, and continue straight ahead to a crossroads, following the Route d'Artagnan trail markers and a yellow and red GRP® trail marker.
(5) Continue straight ahead, following the same markings and rejoining the red diamond trail. 170 m further on, at the fork, continue straight ahead into a coniferous forest, heading towards Hautregard, now following the white and red markings of a GR® trail, the Red 36 and 48 mountain bike routes, and still following the Route d'Artagnan. You will reach a Y-junction.
(6) Continue climbing on the right-hand path. At the next junction, continue straight ahead. Ignore several side paths as you progress. As you leave the woods, you will see houses on your right and reach a T-junction at a place called "Hautregard Alt. 352 m" (marker no. 9 Stavelot – Liège 1768).
(7) Turn left and after 250 m you will reach a fork (bench).
(8) Ignore all markings except the red and white GR® markings and turn sharply left onto the RAVeL Ourthe towards Deigné. At the Y junction, continue along the wide path on the right between the meadows and follow it to a fork at the edge of a small beech wood.
(9) Leave the RAVeL and the GR® by turning a quarter turn to the right and continue along a stony path towards some houses. Enter Ménobu and continue along the asphalt road, alongside the meadows. Pass the Grande Drève and continue straight on along the Chemin des Hêtres. On leaving Ménobu, you will come to a road. Cross it and continue opposite on a grassy path that quickly reaches a T-junction.
(10) Turn left onto a wide dirt track. At the first crossroads, continue straight ahead on the asphalt road until you reach the next crossroads (wooden cross with a small Christ figure). Turn right onto a wide gravel path which, after 275 m, leads to a road. Follow it to the left with the PL Croix Verte sign. After 150 m, you will reach a larger road (bench).
(11) Cross and continue straight ahead into Talbot, still following the PL Croix Verte signs. Follow this path for one kilometre, mostly through meadows, to arrive opposite the La Reid cemetery.
(12) However, just before the road, turn right and continue along a narrow path, which is very steep in its first section. As you approach a main road, the path widens briefly. At the Y junction, follow the grassy path on the right (the one on the left is private) which leads to the N697 Remouchamps – La Reid, opposite Hautregard Castle.
(13) Go up this road on the right. Shortly before a major crossroads, for visibility reasons, cross with caution, then continue uphill to this crossroads and leave the Route de Hautregard by turning left towards Stoumont. Continue for just under 100 metres along Rue Jehanster.
(14) Turn right onto Chemin de Nonceveux. Just after house no. 19, leave this road and turn left onto a stony path. At the first fork, turn left again to follow a dirt track between the edge of the road and the fences. At the water intake prevention area, pass a track on the right, then at the T-junction facing a meadow, turn left downhill and you will soon come to a road (Rue Jehanster).
(15) Follow it to the right. Here, the place name "Belva" (Beautiful View) takes on its full meaning. Shortly after the TEC Hautregard Château bus stop, as the road curves to the left, leave it and turn right onto a path blocked at its entrance by two large boulders. Continue along this path for 1.1 km, sometimes on the left bank, sometimes on the right bank (crossing several wooden footbridges) of the Ruisseau de la Gervova stream. Shortly after crossing the last footbridge, you will come to a five-way crossroads (bench).
(16) Follow the second wide stone path on the right (no markings). A good hundred metres after passing under a high-voltage power line, turn right and go through a metal gate. Go through the first crossroads and then, at the second, turn right to continue along a wide asphalted forest path (RAVeL L44). At the first crossroads, continue straight ahead and, at the second, just before the spruce trees, turn left and go down the grassy path to the crossroads with a very wide grassy lane.
(17) Cross it and continue straight ahead down a path (sometimes very muddy) that winds for 250 metres to a wide forest track.
(18) Follow it to the right. It soon begins to descend. Pass a private road on the left. After a long descent, you will reach a place called "Vieille Chera". At this Y-junction, continue on the right-hand path (ignore the mountain bike trail!) which begins to climb up the other side. Shortly after a metal barrier, climb to the right onto a mountain bike trail and follow it for a short while. Pass a small stable and shortly afterwards you will come to a gravel path. Climb it to the right, ignoring the almost parallel mountain bike route, but following mountain bike routes 37 and 49. Pass under a high-voltage power line. When the slope becomes much gentler, pass under the high-voltage line again and, immediately afterwards, continue straight ahead, still following the yellow mountain bike routes 37 and 49. At the next junction, continue straight ahead until you reach a second crossroads with a very wide path.
(19) Leave all the markings that go to the right and follow this wide grassy lane, the Porallée, to the left. Pass successively by markers no. 4 and no. 3 at a place called "À plin dès èyîs" (À plein les yeux, take in the view). On the descent, when you see the main road, leave the wide lane and turn left onto a barely visible path, which you follow downhill to a water collection building. Pass to the right of the building, then go down about ten steps to reach the N697, opposite the car park entrance. Cross the road to reach the finish (S/E).
