Between Loir and Conie

(S/E) From the church, cross the River Loir and take the path opposite. Continue to a fork in the path.

(1) Turn left. After a copse, turn left and cross two footbridges over the Loir (floodplain). You will reach the D360-2.

(2) Follow it to the right for 50 m, then turn onto the first path on the left.

(3) A few metres before the edge of the woods, turn right at a right angle onto the path leading into the Bois de Moléans.

(4) At the star-shaped junction, head south-west, slightly to the right (Allée de la Touche). At the next junction, go straight on and join a small road.

(5) Follow it to the right, towards Moléans.

(6) At Château de Moléans, with the bridge over the Conie on your left, continue to the right (GR®655 to the D145) and cross Moléans via the main street, then turn left onto the D145-1, which leads to Dheury (houses with thatched roofs or roofs made of Conie reeds). Join the D145.

(7) Turn right onto this road to reach Saint-Christophe (take care). Cross the River Loir.

(8) Turn right immediately, then head left after the grain silo, towards La Fosse aux Chefs.

(9) At La Fosse aux Chefs, follow the track along the edge of the woodland to the entrance to the Château d’Aulnaie.

(10) Continue along the tarmac road to the left and cross the woodland.

(11) At the junction, turn right towards Monthyon Farm. Pass the farm, then head down the path on the right and turn right onto the road.

(12) Cross the Gué Herbault and walk back up alongside a woodland until you reach the D360.

(13) Follow it to the right, cross the Rouvre, and arrive at a woodland on the outskirts of the village.

(14) Turn onto a path on the right towards Mémillon. Ignore the paths branching off to the right and join a road. Follow it to the right until you reach a bridge (with a castle on the left).

(15) Head up the path on the left alongside the property, then along the River Loir (on the left, on the other side of the Loir, note the dolmens). You’ll reach a junction you’ve already passed on the way there.

(1) Follow the outward route in reverse to reach the church at Saint-Maur-sur-le-Loir (S/E).

The Bois de Moléans: (Game: roe deer, wild boar); flora: hairy broom, Pyrenean ornithogalum, shiny cranesbill; known nesting site for black woodpeckers and middle spotted woodpeckers in Eure-et-Loir).
