Description of the walk

Park at Place de la République.

(S/E) Take Rue François Mitterrand towards the town hall and turn right at the first street. Continue straight ahead. Leave the residential area via a stony path.

(1) Continue straight ahead, going around the pretty fortified farm, turn right at the farm buildings and go up towards the motorway. You will come to a crossroads before the motorway.

(2) Turn left and continue to a fork in the road at a place called Le Pérot.

(3) Turn right and descend to the bridge over the Sormonne. Cross it and enter Châtelet-sur-Sormonne.

(4) In the centre, turn left towards Rimogne. Cross the Sormonne again and continue along the road for about 150 m.

(5) Go up the path that starts on the left of the road. This steep climb leads to the hamlet of Châtelet Haut.

(6) After a few houses, take the path on the right and enter the woods. Cross the Rimogneuse and arrive at the D122.

(7) Carefully cross the road by turning left and then right, and take Chemin Hubert Champ, which offers beautiful views of Rimogne and the Sormonne valley. Follow this circular path.

(8) When you reach the GR®12, follow it to the right and join a road.

(9) Follow it to the right and descend to Bogny.

(10) Leave Bogny via Rue de l'Épine on the left. At the three-way junction, take the path on the left and climb the hill. You will cross the old railway line between Maubert-Fontaine and Sormonne.

(11) At the end, turn left and continue straight on until you reach Route de Murtin.

(12) Take the hairpin bend to the left and take the road on the right after about 250 metres. Continue straight downhill and enter Rimogne.

(13) Turn right onto Rue des Paquis and cross the Rimogneuse. Continue uphill, turn right at the first street and continue to the second street on the left, Rue du Puits Saint-Quentin.

(14) Turn left and admire the slate mine tower: information panel and playground. At the roundabout, turn right, pass in front of the town hall and the church and return to Place de la République (S/E).
