Start from Waterloo RER station (car park).
(S/E) Walk down alongside the railway line to the bridge.
(1) Go under the bridge and take the path immediately on your left, heading back up alongside the tracks. Follow Rue de l’Ontario, continue along Avenue des Croix du Feu, then turn left onto Avenue des Nations Unies. Turn right.
(2) You are now in the heart of a residential neighbourhood, amongst houses and flowers. The narrow footpaths are more pleasant and picturesque than the pavements.
Follow the path to the left. Once you reach the Clos des Tulipes, go straight on, then leave the street and take a path on the right which leads to Avenue des Orchidées. Turn right again, ignore a street on the left, then take the next one to reach the area near the RER.
(3) This section is trickier due to roadworks: the path isn’t exactly where it used to be, but it’s still before the bridge. Turn right to walk alongside the RER tracks into the Flemish region and reach Hoeck station, a small station on the Nivelles–Brussels line.
(4) Turn left and follow the road through Kelin Luik until you reach the junction with Rue Hof Ten Hout.
(5) Turn left, heading towards the countryside. Take the second street on the left, then the first on the right.
(6) At the farm, between two large hedges, take the path on the left which leads up into the woods. Turn left towards Heymandries and follow this track to the right. Then carry on straight ahead.
(7) At the fork, veer to the right and follow a long straight path across the fields to the Bois des Bruyères.
(8) Take the path on the left, then turn left again to cross the woods, following the storm water basin. At the end of the basin, turn right to return to the car park (S/E).
