Start: Burgh by Sands village, small car park by the football ground, near the Greyhound Inn pub. (CA5 6AN) Grid ref. NY 325 590
(S/E) Exit the car park and turn right on the road (East). Turn left at the intersection (third street on your left) and continue straight on the road until seeing a small footpath on your left hand side.
(1) Turn left on the footpath and continue straight until seeing a path going toward the King Edward 1st monument. Detour to see the monument and then take slightly right to go back on the path. Continue on this path straight towards the estuary. Then turn right to follow the shore of the estuary passing by Old Sandsfield. Continue on the footpath following the estuary until reaching a stream. Cross it and turn right to walk through Holmesmill farm. Continue on this path until reaching a road.
(2) Turn left at the road. Continue straight until reaching an intersection of roads. Turn left, then continue straight to take the footpath slightly on the right before the bend. Continue on this path following the shore of the river Eden. Continue on this path following the river until reaching a road.
(3) Turn left on the road and continue on this road to reach the village of beaumont. At the intersection of roads, turn right then left to take the Hadrian's wall path. Keep straight on the Hadrian's wall path (West) until reaching a road.
(4) Take right at the road and continue straight on this road until the car park (S/E)
