Great walk to Carrock Fell. The path to the summit is very steep but short. A bit of scrambling to reach the summit.

Description of the walk

Start: Little car park at the bottom of Apronfull of Stones on the road Mosedale to Calebreck. Grid ref. NY 353 337

(S/E) From the road, take the steep path in front of you (South-West) going up Rake Trod. Stay on this path (Rake Trod) until reaching Carrock Fell.

(1) At Carrock Fell walk straight (West) for a couple of meters before taking the path on the right going down to the bottom of the valley. Continue straight going down (North). Near Rospow Hills river the path will bend right (East) continue straight on it until reaching the road.

(2) At the road, turn right and walk straight on the road until the car park. (S/E)

Terrain: Rocky path requiring a bit of scrambling to reach the top then grassy path and road.

Pushchair friendly: No

Dog friendly: Only for confident and well trained dogs

Note: The path going up Carrock Fell can be very strenous if you are not used to fell walking with scrambling.
