From the north of the Metz conurbation (Lorry-lès-Metz) to Hagondange station

The route starts at Place de l’Atre, near the church and the Town Hall.

(S) With your back to the square, turn right onto the Grand’Rue, then turn left down Rue Moret and continue along Rue de Carcassonne. At the end, turn left onto Chemin Noir, then right before the Vigneulles washhouse and carry on to the next junction.

(1) Follow Rue de Vigneulles to the left, through Saulny, even when it veers to the right. Cross Rue de Metz and head up the road opposite, Rue de Calembourg, then turn left onto Rue du Pré Pierron and follow it to the end.

(2) Turn left, then immediately right onto Rue de Plesnois. Go over the ridge and continue along Rue de Saulny until you reach the junction, a few metres before the end of the street.

(3) Turn right onto Chemin Derrière Villers, which continues as the greenway. Head down this tarmac track, cross the D50, follow it for 100 m on the left, then continue to the right.

(4) Cross the stream on the road and carry on along the path that runs alongside it through the Écoparc de Norroy-le-Veneur business park until you reach the end of Rue Hubert Reeves.

(5) Turn left onto the track running alongside Rue Jean-Louis Étienne and, 250 m further on, cross the road at the second pedestrian crossing. Before the D652, 150 m away, turn left onto the track running alongside it and continue to a roundabout.

(6) Just before the roundabout, turn right onto the cycle path and cross this busy road with care! Take the first exit off the roundabout. Follow the track as it zigzags round the next two roundabouts and joins the Voie Romaine.

(7) Follow it straight ahead, running alongside the D112E and then the D1112F for 7 km.

(8) After the amusement park and the former steelworks (Ascométal), at the roundabout, take the^first exit and enter Hagondange. Follow the cycle path running alongside Rue de la Convention and then Rue Wilson.

(9) At the roundabout, continue straight ahead onto Avenue de France. At the next roundabout, turn left onto Rue de Boussange. Take the underpass to reach Hagondange station (E).

(E) Metz station is almost as far from Lorry-lès-Metz as Hagondange station, where the TER arrives 12 to 15 minutes later, and the journey will be cheaper (by €5 on a full-price ticket). We chose Hagondange rather than the closer Woippy station because not all trains stop at Woippy. But also because Hagondange station has lifts providing access to the platforms. At Woippy, if the train you’re waiting for doesn’t stop at platform 1, you’ll have to carry your bike across the footbridge over the tracks! There’s no lift, nor even a ramp on which to wheel your bike or suitcase.
