Description of the walk

Start in front of the old school, at the entrance to the village.

(S/E) Head towards the village centre.

(1) Walk past the fountain then turn right onto Rue de la Peyrade opposite the town hall; this is the only street in the village leading to the church.

(2) Take the path leading down to the left of the church, signposted Blue, Red, Green, Chemin de Ronde, and follow it to the D219 road, turning right and passing in front of the cemetery. Continue along the road to the sewage treatment plant on the right, hidden behind the trees.

(3) Just after the sewage treatment plant, follow the grassy path to the right, marked by a small sign saying "LAS TITES" and blue/green signposts. Follow this path along the edge of the field, partly through the undergrowth. Leave the green markings on your left and continue following the blue signposts until you reach a road. When you reach the road, turn left towards the hamlet of Peyradis

(4). After the first house on the right-hand side, take the grassy path (GR® de Pays Cœur de Gascogne) which descends into the woods and leads to the Barthète farm. Follow a private, stony track – open to non-motorised walkers – to the right until you reach a crossroads approximately 200 m past the farm, at the boundary between the private stony path and the tarmac road.

(5) Head down to the right, due south, along theGRP® de Gascogne path, marked with yellow and black on a post.

(6) At the junction with the Route d'Astaffort, continue to the right then left onto the Route du Plateau towards the water tower.

(7) After passing the water tower, in the hamlet of Béliard, take the first road on the right. Follow this road to the village of Castéra-Lectourois. In the village, at a hairpin bend to the left, leave the road and take a path that leads back to the crossroads you passed on the way there.

(1) Continue straight on, passing the town hall on your right, and head down to the D219. Turn left onto this road, then immediately take the stony path on the right. At the T-junction, turn right and continue along the ‘Viewpoint over a lake’ path.

(8) At a junction with a cross, follow the stony path marked in red straight ahead. Cross the old railway line and continue straight ahead to reach the banks of the Gers.

(9) Walk along the river on your right along a wide, shaded and refreshing path that passes in front of the old Moulin de la Mothe and its waterfalls.

(10) As you approach the railway line, ignore the path on the left, continue to the right, go through the wooden gate and head to the level crossing. Cross the railway line then take the road on the left.

(11) On the climb, take the first road on the right towards the Domaine d'Aurignac, following the red signposts, then take the path climbing opposite towards the hamlet of Pourillon.

(12) Follow a road to the left. At the following junctions, go straight on. Climb up, pass the hamlet of Pimoulé and reach the hamlet of Peyrouton.

(13) Turn right into the cedar-lined lane. Join the D219 and follow it to the left. Continue straight on until you reach the old school (S/E).

The first part was pleasant, with well-cleared paths. When we arrived at the village, we were able to take a coffee break ☕️ and enjoy some cakes under the covered playground of the old school. As it started to rain, given the weather conditions, we didn't complete the remaining loop to make a full circle, but we'll be back!

Good evening,
The route I posted on Visorando is based on the three routes mapped out and published by Castéra Lectourois Town Council, and a small section forms part of the GR de Pays Coeur de Gascogne.
The council should be responsible for maintaining the 8, 10 and 18.6 km routes published on its website. As for the GR de Pays, on the Auch Tourisme website, the GRP route still passes through points 4 and 5.
As for the upkeep of the paths, on Saturday, with my club, we found grass 1.50 m high on the path at Lusignan Petit...
Have a good evening and enjoy your walks.

A route organised by a hiking club. The differences in the landscape between the northern and southern circular routes are interesting.
North: the path hadn’t been cleared at all – so particularly between 3 and 4, the tall grass, brambles, etc. forced us to walk through the mud of the lentil field next to it, and as it was wet, we got wet and muddy up to our knees, with 5kg of mud under each shoe. Fun for some, less so for others...
Next – a note for the trail’s creator – we learnt that the section between 4 and 5 was on private land, and although the owner of La Barthèle was very friendly, he would prefer the trail not to pass through his property any longer. I told him I would pass on the information. (For your information, the GRP no longer goes that way, although it is still marked on the maps...)
South: a magnificent path under the trees along the River Gers!
And the route allows for a picnic in the very pretty village of Castéra and for those who wish to do so to break off the route.
Thank you.

Some lovely scenery! The contrast between the circular sections of the route is really interesting and enjoyable. However, the signposts can sometimes be hard to spot and the route becomes trickier to follow, but you always manage to find your way.

Thanks to the creator of this circular route. A very pleasant walk with two routes offering different scenery. There’s a bit of an uphill climb, which rewards you with some lovely views. The village of Castérat-Lectourois, where you return halfway through the walk, is a lovely spot for a picnic.
