From the village of L’Hospitalet-du-Larzac, take the road to Egalières. After 3.2 km, park on the right in the makeshift car park; there is space for plenty of vehicles.
(S/E) Head south and turn right onto the wide track; leave the first path on your right and follow the path leading to Egalières.
(1) Carry on straight ahead and continue along the Chemin des Canallettes. After a long circular loop to the left, you’ll reach the crossroads at the Maison des Forestiers.
(2) Turn left to take the signposted path heading north; take a moment to admire all the different species of trees planted here, along with their information panels.
(3) At the 90° right-hand bend, take a short detour to the left to the prehistoric shelter.
Return to the path, follow it, then head north to reach the Source du Durzon via a steep descent.
(4) Turn 90° to the right, walk past the fish farm and then along the right bank of the Durzon to reach the junction by the bridge.
(5) Turn right; a wooden sign indicates “Pas de la Mule”. Begin the climb, which is easy at first but becomes steeper later on. Follow the stream until, at a hairpin bend, you reach a crossroads of paths at the top of the climb.
(6) Stay on the path on the right, which becomes flat and pleasant.
(7) Turn right towards the Maison des Forestiers and head towards it.
(2) Take the track you came along on the way out to the left to return to the car park (S/E).
