Description of the walk

Departure from one of the car parks near the entrance to the village of Cantobre.

(S/E) With your back to the village entrance, turn left onto the D145, pass the Cantobre town sign and take the path down to the left towards the mill (yellow markings). Reach a path and follow it to a fork.

(1) Turn right onto the path, then left onto the track that runs alongside the Trèvezel, then the Dourbie, and arrive at the mill.

(2) Continue along the small road, then turn right at the crossroads, cross the bridge over the Dourbie (magnificent view of Cantobre), and join the D991.

(3) At the crossroads, follow the D991 towards stream on the left and you will come to a small road on the left.

(4) Follow this road, the C13, towards Véllas. Reach the village, cross the bridge over the Dourbie and arrive at a crossroads at the foot of a campsite.

(5) Take the path on the right, which runs alongside the campsite in a semicircle. At the next crossroads, turn right and continue more or less alongside the Dourbie until you reach the tarmac.

(6) Turn right to cross the bridge over the Dourbie (Pont de la Prade) and enter stream.

(7) At the end of Rue Ernest Saint-André, turn right, walk along Place du Claux, and reach a three-way junction.

(8) Turn left onto Place Saint-Jacques, enter the park and cross it. Exit onto Route du Durzon and follow it to the right. Continue along Rue du Faubourg Haut until you reach the fork you passed earlier.

(8) Continue for a few metres and turn right onto Rue de l'Église. Go around the church on your left, then turn left onto Rue des Pénitents. At the end, turn right, then left, and you will come to the crossroads you passed on the way there.

(7) Turn right, in the opposite direction to the outward journey, cross the bridge over the Dourbie and reach the fork you passed on the way out and a path on the left.

(6) Follow it for a few metres, then take the path on the right, at the corner of the house. After a fairly long climb, which can be difficult in hot weather (very beautiful views of stream), you will reach a fork.

(9) Leave the path that branches off to the left and continue to the right towards Roc Stream.

(10) At the fork, turn right and continue to the Roc Nantais platform, which offers magnificent views of stream.

(11) Return to the previous fork.

(10) Continue on the path to the right until you reach a fork with a track.

(12) Turn left towards Cantobre, then quickly turn right onto a path. Follow it downhill until you reach a bridge on the small road leading to Cantobre.

(13) Follow it to the right and return to the car park in Cantobre (S/E).

Thank you for this itinerary, we had a wonderful time! The autumn colours are still beautiful at the beginning of November.
To avoid walking along the road, take the small path that runs alongside it at point No. 2.
And at the end, at point 12, take the path that goes under the bridge and then climbs back up towards Cantobre. The fork in the road is worth the detour.
We completed the entire route in 6 hours, including a picnic break. A very beautiful route with lovely views, and the undergrowth on the way down provided us with beautiful autumn scenes.
