Description of the walk

Park in the car park of the Maison du Temps Libre, Rue des Sapins in Dorans.

(S/E) Start by following the Blue Ring marked trail, behind the Maison du Temps Libre, at the edge of the forest, then turn right and head up into the forest.

(1) Once you reach Rue des Camoutchots, take Rue de la Chapelle on the right.

(2) Turn left and follow Rue des Noisetiers, marked with the Red Ring.
(3) Leave the main path to follow the track on the left, which leads to Route de Dorans.

(4) Cross the road and take the path on the left.

(5) At the junction with one of the access roads to Dorans (Rue des Fougères), follow the Red Ring markings by turning right and go under the N19 bridge.

(6) Before crossing the motorway, take the path on the right, which is closed off by a barrier, and follow the embankment of the A36, then the Douce river, and after passing under a road bridge. Further on, cross the bridge over the Douce river.

(7) Turn left, then follow the path that climbs to the right, at the foot of Saint-Laurent Church. Walk alongside the church, then continue straight on until the next junction, where you turn left.

(8) Take the cul-de-sac on the left, then, after the last house, follow a small path that climbs to the right.

(9) At the next junction, turn left until you reach the fork.

(10) From this point, the route takes a circular route around the first piers of the Savoureuse Viaduct; continue straight ahead.

(11) Before the nearest viaduct pier, take a path leading down to the left, then go round the pier near the Savoureuse. Return via the path near the forest, running alongside a vineyard and an orchard, going uphill before returning to the start of the circular route.

(11) Follow the outward route in the opposite direction until you reach the fork you passed earlier.

(10) Take the Red Ring marked path on the left. When you reach the edge of the forest, turn left twice to begin the walk around Fort du Bois d’Oye. Reach the viewpoint.

(12) Turn right into the meadow, then turn right twice in succession to reach the entrance path to the fort.

(13) Leave the entrance gate behind you, head straight on and reach the Notre-Dame du Chêne Chapel.

(14) Continue straight on along the path before turning left when it becomes a tarmac road. Follow the Blue Ring signposts until you go round the large farm at Les Camouchots.

(15) Turn right to return to the vicinity of the Maison du Temps Libre. At this point, continue by taking the small road on the left. Just before the first houses of Dorans, take a short detour to the left to see the Fontaine des Converses, then rejoin the route.

(16) At the junction with Rue du Bois Joly, turn left, then, after 50 m, take the path on the right and climb up to the plateau above Dorans. Then turn right at the next crossroads and head for the orientation table and its viewpoint.

(17) Turn right again, continuing to follow the Blue Ring markings. Pass by the building housing the village’s old fire pump, then, at the junction just after, look out for the Fontaine du Tilleul below on the right.

(18) At the junction between Rue du Tilleul and Rue de la Charme, turn right onto the latter. Before a farmhouse on the left, turn left to explore, via a short detour, the Fontaine de la Charme, at the edge of the forest.

(19) Retrace your steps and continue to the left to discover another fountain on the right-hand side of Rue des Charmes. Continue along Rue des Sapins and return to the starting car park (S/E).

Notes

Numerous water fountains in the second part of the route in the village of Dorans.

The Fort du Bois d'Oye in Bermont uses, for its landscape maintenance instead of noisy mowers, a herd of goats from the APAR (Agir Pour les Animaux de Rente) 90 association, which manages farm animals (retired animals that spend their twilight years in peace and thus live out their days).

Near Dorans, in the neighbouring village, there is the Botans Agricultural Museum
