Car park: Ohey water tower, Rue de Ciney 231, 5350 Ohey (next to the TotalEnergies petrol station)
(S/E) From the water tower, head straight along the path running alongside the woods and the back of the housing estate. At the end, turn left at a 90° angle to walk along the other side of the housing estate. The path then curves sharply to the right (keep right at the fork immediately after) and runs alongside another housing estate (in the woods) until it reaches a forest path and a picnic area.
(1) Continue straight ahead in the same direction for 200 metres. At the next intersection (end of a street), take the forest path on the right (in line with the street) and follow it for 150 metres, then take the path on the left that descends towards the stream.
(2) Cross the stream and follow it to the right, using the numerous footbridges (double beams) and stepping stones that span the secondary streams and marshy areas. Follow the path to the end (500 m) and turn left onto the wider path, which you follow for 200 m. At the intersection, turn left and continue until you reach the straight forest path. Turn right at the sharp angle and follow it to the end (550 m).
(3) At the end, shortly after crossing the stream, take the path on the left and follow it for 400 m until you reach the crossroads under the high-voltage power line. Continue straight ahead (keeping slightly to the left), still in the woods, until you reach the lane (still straight ahead), then the tarmac road.
(4) On the tarmac road (Rue du Chaumont, a few isolated houses), first turn left then right to re-enter the woods. The path begins to descend towards a hamlet. At the bottom, ignore the path coming from the left and keep to the right to reach the tarmac road (Rue du Manoir). Continue down the road: it goes around the manor house (house and tower) and soon reaches a village road.
(5) Cross the road and take the grassy footpath lined with hedges opposite. The path leads to a pasture, which you cross by stepping over two stile gates, then crosses the stream (slatted bridge) to reach a road a little higher up (Rue de Bounon). Walk up this road for 50 metres and take the path on the right, below an imposing building. This street, then path, runs between woods and meadows.
(6) After 400 metres, enter the woods. You will be greeted by a statue, the Funambule. Continue along the path on the right to reach the Bivouac ( dedicated work: "Sous son aile"). Return to the path, keeping to the right. After 200 m, you will reach a tarmac road (Rue Léon Pirsoul). Continue straight ahead until you reach the end. Then turn left and walk alongside the grounds of Haltinne Castle.
(7) Shortly before the crossroads, there is access to the Haltinne village excavation site (information panels on site). From there, visit Haltinne Church, picnic area and benches.
(8) From the church, return to the crossroads.
(7) Head down towards Haltinne Castle. Pass the castle, then the farmhouse, and turn right between the farm and a smaller outbuilding. Immediately after these buildings, take the farm track on the left. This continues across the meadows, which you should cross diagonally (tractor tracks) until you reach the woods.
(9) Cross the stile (or open gate) and take the path on the left. Cross the stream, then the brook, and continue through the woods until you reach the tarmac road. Turn right and walk for 500 metres, then take the farm track on the right towards the woods. Once in the woods, turn sharply left to follow the edge. The path curves gradually to the right and passes behind the houses. Continue to the water tower (S/E).
