Park on Place de la Fontaine, opposite the Lafare stopover lodge.
(S/E) Leave the village along the D90 coming from Beaumes-de-Venise. At the bottom of the descent, just before the bridge, turn right, along the equestrian centre. After two short steep slopes, you will reach a crossroads in a hairpin bend.
(1) Turn right to continue climbing towards Les Dentelles. At the top of the climb, when the landscape opens up onto Les Dentelles, leave the road and continue on the path opposite. Stay on this path along the edge of the vineyards and forest. You will reach a small pass with a vineyard on your left.
(2) Take the path opposite, towards the Dentelles, which starts with a steep climb. You will come to a crossroads with four paths.
(3) Take the left-hand path to begin a descent of several hundred metres. Reach the bottom of this descent.
(4) Then begin the climb to Pas de la Chèvre, the highest point of the hike.
(5) Go around the western end of the Clapis cliff chain.
Be careful here: some sections require you to use your hands before descending the south-facing side of the cliffs. Pass through a slightly slippery scree slope. At the bottom of the valley, after crossing the Arguille stream, which is dry in summer, follow it on its left bank. At the bottom of the descent, climb up to the left to reach a crossroads of paths.
(6) Take the path opposite, which climbs quite steeply, and walk alongside a vineyard. You will reach the road that leads to the Domaine de Cassan. Follow it to the right for about 100 metres to find another crossroads below the Chapelle Saint-Christophe.
(7) Take the path on the right, which is a shortcut off the road. Further on, rejoin the road and turn right. Continue along it to reach the entrance to Lafare and the car park at Place de la Fontaine (S/E).
There are no markings on this hike, so you will need to make good use of a map and GPS.
