From Wimmenau to Reipertswiller via Lichtenberg

Park in the car park near Wimmenau station. 

(S/E) With your back to the car park, turn right towards the main road, head towards the railway line and cross over to the other side until you reach a Y-junction.

(1) Turn right, following the Red Rectangle markings. Then turn left and carry on straight ahead until you reach a road.

(2) Carry on straight ahead, then keep to the right at the Fork in the road and continue straight on at every junction until you reach the ridge. Carry on straight ahead and reach another ridge.

(3) Turn right, then carry on straight ahead until you reach a road.

(4) Follow it to the left, then keep right at the Fork in the road. Carry on straight ahead until you reach a three-way junction.

(5) Turn right, then carry on straight ahead until you reach the next road.

(6) Cross it and follow the path which turns right. Then keep left towards Lichtenberg. Turn right twice to rejoin Rue du Château.

(7) Walk up it to the right, then take the first left, Rue de l’Église, to cross the square of the same name and reach the village centre.

(8) Opposite, join the^GR®®532(Yellow Rectangle). Cross a road and reach the Picardie neighbourhood.

(9) Carry on straight ahead and keep going until you reach the D198.

(10) Turn left and walk through Reipertswiller. Stay on the same street until you reach a roundabout.

(11) Take the first exit, then keep left and continue along the path on the left after the school. Keep going straight ahead until you reach the local CV hut (Refuge du Kiesbächel).

(12) Follow the path furthest to the left. When you reach the houses, keep to the right. You will then come to a road and the Rothbach.

(13) Turn left and cross the river to follow the Côte de Wildenbach. Turn left at the first junction to reach Wildenguth.

(14) Go straight ahead, then turn right onto Rue Wildenguth. At the bend, head down the path to reach Kindsbronn.

(15) Cross the stream and join a road. Follow this road uphill until you reach a track on the right.

(16) Take the path furthest to the left of the track before returning to the road. Follow it straight ahead, then turn right off it. Continue straight ahead until you reach a path marked with a Yellow Rectangle crossed out in a White Rectangle.

(17) Keep going straight on until you reach the D157. Head down this road to the right to reach the junction from the outward journey.

(1) Return to the starting point via the reverse route (S/E).

Make sure you wear waterproof shoes!
Walking poles might come in handy.

In Wimmenau

• The Swiss House. A former mill. This half-timbered house has become the House of History and Traditions of the Haute-Moder in Wimmenau. It’s open to visitors, but by appointment only. Worth a visit at 31 Rue Principale, but the route doesn’t go past it.

In Lichtenberg

• The castle, of course, which is what the village is famous for. The route does not pass through here.
