To reach the starting point, from the A63 motorway, follow the D913 to Socoa. Cross a bridge over the Untxin and you’ll reach a roundabout. Take the first exit on the right and turn straight into the car park by the shops on the right. The starting point is on the banks of the Untxin.
(S/E) Follow the cycle path along the Untxin, on its left bank, until you reach Place de Socoa.
At the bridge, cross it and take the cycle path on the right. Watch out for a slight incline all the way to Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
(2) At the port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, cross the bridge with all the flags (caution! It is recommended that you dismount to cross, as the pavement is narrow and must be shared with pedestrians).
(3) At the roundabout, turn slightly left, cross Avenue de Verdun and then follow Rue Marion Caray. At the end, turn right onto Boulevard Victor Hugo.
(4) Turn left onto Boulevard Thiers (do not follow the signs for the seafront straight away, as it is not accessible to cyclists).
(5) Near Pointe Sainte-Barbe (a lovely viewpoint from the tip of Sainte-Barbe), take the hairpin bend to the right, then turn left onto Rue de Sainte-Barbe. At the roundabout, continue to the right onto Rue Gaëtan de Bernoville. Carry on along the cycle path to reach the Erromardie car park.
(6) Between the car park and the road, turn left and take the cycle path towards Guéthary, which runs alongside Chemin de Eurromardie, Chemin de la Côte and, after the roundabout, Chemin de Kokotia.
(7) At the large roundabout, turn left onto Route des Plages.
(9) Turn right onto Avenue Napoléon III.
(9) When you reach the edge of the forest, continue straight ahead along the track through the woodland and go round the sewage treatment works on the left.
(10) Continue between the beach and the railway line along Chemin de Cenitz, then along Chemin des Falaises.
(11) Cross the railway bridge and follow Avenue du Général de Gaulle to Costa Aldia Town Hall and its Basque pelota fronton.
(12) The return journey follows the same route back to Socoa (S/E).
