From Massip to Sénergues via the Way of St James

A beautiful short stage combining roads and paths. Moderate difficulty in terms of distance and elevation. Very good signposting with red and white GR®65 markings. Take advantage of the village crossings to visit the churches and fill up your water bottles at the fountains.

Description of the walk

The starting point is at the Massip lodge.

(S) Follow the signs for the village of Golinhac. Quickly take the path on the left at the crossroads, cross a small road and take the path opposite. Back on the tarmac, turn left and continue for about 100 metres.

(1) When the road turns sharply to the left, leave it and take a path on the right through the woods. Pass the hamlet of La Fouillade and join the Radal crossroads.

(2) Follow the road to the right, continue straight ahead at the crossroads and head for the church square in Golinhac, following the red and white GR®65 signs.

(3) Take the street on the left towards the town hall, then left again. About 50 metres further on, the signs indicate to turn right towards Les Hauts de Golinhac. Continue along the path, rejoin the tarmac road and turn right to reach a crossroads.

(4) Continue straight ahead on the path towards Le Poteau and join the junction with the D904.

(5) Cross this road carefully and continue straight ahead for about 500 metres. Leave the road and turn right onto a path leading to Albusquiès.

(6) Take the road on the right, then left to cross the hamlet. When you reach the water treatment plant, turn right onto a wooded path towards Campagnac and you will come out onto a small paved road.

(7) Continue left. At the T-junction with the hamlet in sight, turn right.

(8) Take the street on the left, then right without crossing the hamlet completely.

(9) Keep left at the three-way junction, pass the houses in Soulié, then those in Carboniès.

(10) About a hundred metres further on, leave the road on the right and take the path indicated by the signposts. Continue to the junction with another road.

(11) Take the path opposite, crossing the road with caution. Cross the La Daze des Vernhettes stream.

(12) Take the path on the left at the intersection towards Espeyrac.

(13) Head left towards the town hall and church via Rue de la Forge. You will come out onto a larger road (D42) and follow it straight ahead. Shortly afterwards, before an intersection with another road on the right, turn left to reach the corner of the church.

(14) Leave the church on your left and take Rue du Congrelh. After a left turn, turn right onto a path. You will come out onto Rue de l'Abreuvoir; follow it to the right.

(15) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead towards the cemetery, following the street called Chemin de Saint-Jacques. Continue straight ahead on the path, cross the Ruisseau de la Daze and you will come to a paved road. Turn left and pass several farm buildings on your right.

(16) Turn left onto the path leading to the D42. Follow this road to the right until you reach a place called Célis.

(17) Leave the road and take the path on your left, which runs alongside the cemetery on your right and leads to Sénergues. Then turn right onto the path to reach the church (E).
