From Kerjouanno Beach to Port Navalo

A short, round-trip section of the Tour du Golfe du Morbihan (TGM), from Kerjouanno Beach to Port Navalo via Le Petit Mont, in the municipality of Arzon. Magnificent views of the open sea, the Ponant Islands (Hoedic, Houat, Belle-Île) and the entrance to the Gulf. Swimming is possible at Fogeo Beach and Port Sable. Beware of high tides, especially in rough weather. The path offers little shelter from the wind.

Description of the walk

There is a small car park at the end of Rue de l'Océan.

(S/E) Head to the end of the car park and follow the coastal path on the right. It overlooks the beach and runs past the Résidence des Remparts de Kerjouanno to reach Plage du Fogeo. In July and August, if the Kerjouanno car park is full, park in the large car park along Avenue de Kerlun and make your way to Plage du Fogeo. You can walk along the beach or on the path that runs alongside the dune.

(1) At the Fogeo Beach lifeguard station, continue along the beach or take the coastal path that starts behind the dune and leads to the leisure area with various sporting activities (including the sailing school). This section is sheltered from the offshore wind. Continue on to the coast, then on to the access point for Petit Mont.

(2) Turn right and climb to the summit, marked by a cairn dating back thousands of years, which was converted into a bunker during the Second World War. There are magnificent views of the open sea, the Quiberon Peninsula in the distance, Locmariaquer and the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan.

(3) Head back down the coastal path until you emerge next to the Notre-Dame de Croisty Chapel.

(4) Continue all the way along Port du Crouesty to the end of the harbour at the Maison du Port.

(5) Continue along the other side of the harbour until you reach Chemin du Croisty, which joins the coastal path.

(6) Pass Port-Sable Beach, take a short stretch of the Chemin du Petit Mousse, then head towards Port-Navalo Beach.

(7) From this beautiful beach, continue left along the coastal path known here as the Chemin de la Corniche, which passes close to the Port Navalo lighthouse. Here too, the views of the open sea and the entrance to the Gulf are magnificent.

(8) Once you reach Port-Navalo, you could turn back and follow the exact same route in reverse, but the walk would be nearly 16 km, whereas this route covers 13 km. We chose to head back up Rue du Général de Gaulle and follow the Chemin du Petit Mousse again from Port-Navalo Beach.

(7) Retrace the outward route in the opposite direction as far as the Maison du Port.

(5) From there, take Rue de Lenn Vihan to the roundabout. Follow Rue Kooez er Gall, which has a wide pavement, until you reach a roundabout.

(9) Turn onto Avenue de la Baie d'Abraham and follow it to Rue de Kerlun.

(10) Turn right onto this street and continue to the junction with Rue de l'Océan.

(11) Turn right onto this street and head back to the Kerjouanno car park (S/E).

Worth a visit

The historic site of Petit Mont is open to visitors. Check opening times. Along the Chemin de la Corniche, there is an interesting view of the migmatites at Port Navalo. Throughout the route, take your time to admire the scenery, particularly the light at sunrise and sunset!
