Red and white markings
Follow theGR®1-TMFmarkings, leave the post office building on your left, cross Avenue Galliéni and take a small street lined with houses and villas opposite. At the end of this street, turn left onto Rue Pasteur. At the crossroads with Avenue de la Forêt, turn right and, after about 20 metres, turn right again at Georges Thill's house. Take Chemin des Coureurs (south-west). Cross the D138 (take care) and continue along Route de la Perlure.
No markings
Leave theGR®1-TMF, cross the D606 (take care) and turn slightly left onto Route du Lancer.
(1) At the crossroads, continue straight on along Route du Lancer. Cross Route de Solférino and, at the next crossroads, take Route des Vieux Rayons on the right.
(2) La Mare aux Cerfs is on the left. Continue along the path and, at the next crossroads, turn left onto Route des Bécassières. Cross Route Ronde (take care) and continue along Route des Bécassières.
(3) At the crossroads, turn right onto Route de la Table du Roi. At the junction with Route de Chailly in Brolles, take the second left onto Route du Marchais Artois. At the junction with Route Tournante de la Mare aux Évées, turn right then left.
(4) At Mare aux Évées, turn left onto Allée du Lac Ontario to join Route de Dammarie on the left, then go straight ahead at the crossroads.
(5) Remains of one of the first oil wells in the Fontainebleau forest. Follow Route de Dammarie and, at the junction with Route du Lancer, take the second left.
Blue markings
(6) At marker no. 589 on a tree, turn right, walk about 20 metres, then turn right onto a small path (blue marker on a tree). Walk about 40 metres, then turn left uphill and follow the blue markings of the Denecourt trail no. 12. Be sure to follow the markings on the trees, rocks and even on the ground, as they can sometimes be difficult to find. At the junction with Route de la Femme, go straight ahead and follow the blue markings.
There are no markings between points 7 and 9 except for the signs at the crossroads.
(7) At the crossroads, leave the Denecourt trail no. 12 and take the 4th left, Route de la Femme.
At the next crossroads, take the 2nd right, Route de Bellevue.
(8) At the Route du Boutoir junction, go straight ahead, then left and right to rejoin Route de Bellevue, which you follow in zigzags.
(9) Going downhill, at the junction with the Denecourt trail no. 5, turn left and follow the blue markings again.
Blue markings
(10) Turn right (do not take the stairs).
(11) When you reach a sandy track, turn left and continue for about 50 metres.
(12) At the fork, turn right. Follow the blue markings carefully.
(13) At the end of the ferns, turn left onto a paved path. Take care when crossing Route Ronde. At the Belle Croix cross, take the Denecourt path no. 4 (blue markings) on your left, passing in front of the Maria Fountain.
(14) Arrive at the Grotte aux Cristaux. Continue eastwards following the blue markings (be careful, the markings can be sparse).
(15) Turn left at junction 12-4, walk a few metres, then turn left (be careful, the markings are difficult to find) and then find them again on the right.
(16) When crossing Route du Mont Saint-Germain, take the small path opposite. Follow the blue markings.
(17) At the intersection of several paths, take the blue-marked path to the right of Route du Plateau. Cross the D606 (be careful), then follow the sign for "Sentier n°12 Bois-le-Roi". Turn right and climb up to the ruins of Butte Saint-Louis. On the way down, take trail n°12 on the left towards Petit Mont. At Petit Mont, turn left towards Carrefour des Ventes Bouchard.
(18) Take Route des Ventes Bouchard (GR®1E). At the intersection with Route du Lancer, turn right. Take care when crossing the D138, then return to the station via the same route you took to get there (S/E).
