Access: from Le Thillot, follow signs for “Le Ménil” and turn right just before the supermarket. Follow the road uphill for three kilometres.
Parking at the Chapelle des Vés car park.
(S/E) From the car park, head towards the chapel along the road and then along the first road on the left marked with a Blue Ring. This is the “Chemin de Clairefontaine”, a dead-end track. Head south for about 500 m to reach the start of a path before a wide right-hand bend. Beautiful views throughout the descent.
(1) Turn right onto this ascending path and follow the Blue Ring markings. When you reach the hamlet of “Leyot”, continue along a tarmac section that descends to the road.
(2) At a hairpin bend, continue right along the road to its end, where you’ll reach a farm. Cross the farmyard and continue along a path to the right (which can be damp at certain times of year). This pleasant path leads you to the Pic des Corbeaux hunters’ shelter (open shelter). There is also an outdoor bench. An ideal spot for a break.
Possiblealternative route described in the practical information section.
(3) Walk past the shelter. Continue straight ahead on the path, following the Blue Ring markings through the ferns. It climbs steeply for about 200 m, then turns right for about 40 metres. Take a short detour to the right to reach, via a short additional climb, the Pic des Corbeaux rock. Breathtaking views of Le Thillot and Fresse-sur-Moselle to your left, with Ramonchamp in the background.
(4) After this stop, continue the walk along the path which climbs through the ferns. Once in the forest, continue to follow the Blue Ring markings. The path climbs steeply for about 200 m to reach the summit.
(5) Continue for another hundred metres or so. Once you reach the pastures at the edge of the forest, enjoy a lovely view of the pass where the Chapelle des Vés stands. Continue down a steep descent for some 200 m to return to the starting point (S/E).
