The hike starts at the Place du Château in Thiers-sur-Thève (Oise).
A shaded car park has been provided.
No signposts
Turn left onto Rue Fontaine du Gué and, at the end, turn right onto the path that leads to a small bridge (1) over a branch of the Thève just before a crossroads. Take the second track on the left and follow it. At the next crossroads (the markings for plot 236 are faintly visible on the trunk of a tree) (2), turn right onto the second track. This will take you to a fork where you will see the ruins of an old bridge on your right (3). Take the track that passes between the remains of the two abutments. Continue straight ahead until you reach the Carrefour du Bu.
(4) When you reach plot 232, turn left onto the path that climbs up to plot 179, then turn right and continue to a star-shaped crossroads (5).
Turn right onto the path that leads to the top of the Butte aux Gens d'Armes (6).
Cross the clearing and take the sandy path downhill in front of you. You will come to the A1 motorway bridge, which you cross to reach the Carrefour des Gens d'Armes, in the centre of which is a signpost (7).
Make sure you note the direction of the Route de la Haute Chaume, which you will follow for about 2.5 km (as there are not many other signs on this section of the route). It is perfectly straight. As you pass, you will see the mark for plot 132 (8) in large green numbers on a white background on your left, then, further on, the mark for plot 141 on your right, well before you reach the Poteau de la Haute Chaume.
Cross the crossroads and, about a hundred metres further on (9) (there is a marker for plot 130 on your left), turn right onto a path and follow it for 800 metres until you reach the Carrefour de l'Ébène, which no longer has a signpost due to ongoing forestry work. You will see theGR® trail marker on the path that cuts across the one you have just followed at a right angle.
GR®1signpost (red and white)
Take theGR® on the left and continue. You will pass Carrefour du Bosquet Rond, where you turn diagonally to the right. TheGR® passes over a hillock; continue to the next one, where there is a nice spot for a picnic in the middle of a pile of rocks (10).
Turn back to return to the Carrefour de l'Ébène and follow the GR®. Further on, you will pass the Poteau Sainte Marguerite and then the Poteau du Merisier and arrive at the Maison Forestière de la Pistole near the A1 motorway bridge (11).
Cross the bridge and take the path immediately on the right, then, after about 100 metres, turn left onto a path that is no longer signposted (12).
No signposts
After about 100 metres, turn left again and after 500 metres you will reach a path markedGR®(13).
GR® signposting (red and white)
Take theGR® on the left and follow it to Rue du Pont Chantrel (14), which will take you back to the car park at Place du Château.
The hike is now complete.
