Park in the car park at Trizay Abbey.
(S/E) Cross diagonally across the meadow bordering the abbey, with your back to it. When you reach the road, turn right and walk about 100 metres, then turn left onto Chemin de la Croix, towards the place called La Croix.
(1) Enter the hamlet and pass in front of a stone cross. Continue along the road slightly to the right, on Chemin du Petit Logis. About one kilometre further on, enter the place known as Le Rocher.
(2) At this fork, turn right onto Rue de Picou. Leave the hamlet of Le Petit Village. You will come to a stone bridge over the Arnoult.
(3) Do not cross the Arnoult before the bridge, but take a wide dirt track on the left and continue straight ahead through the fields with the black soil characteristic of the Arnoult valley.
At the end of the path, you will arrive at the foot of the ancient cliff that borders the Arnoult valley. A path on the left leads to the entrance of the Creux Nègre cave and its arch.
(4) Turn around to return to the last fork. Continue straight ahead on a path that runs along the foot of the cliff and curves slightly upwards. At the next fork, turn left to stay in the forest and arrive in front of a house preceded by a few small buildings.
(5) Turn sharply right onto a wide stone path. At the first fork, turn left to stay in the forest. Continue for about one kilometre. When you reach a fork at elevation 17, turn left and continue for about 800 metres until you reach a small tree-lined tarmac road.
(6) Follow it to a fork. Then turn right onto a farm track. Cross a tarmac road and continue straight ahead on the same track. You will reach this bend, with a large greenhouse with solar panels in view.
(7) Turn right and continue along the track. You will come to a small tarmac road that runs alongside a property bordered by a large wall. Continue, leaving the wall on your left. Pass a beautiful farm building with a sculpture of a plough and ears of corn on its pediment, as well as a date from the 19th century. Continue straight on Chemin du Négrier (small tarmac road), then turn right onto Chemin de Buffetison.
(8) At house number 8, turn left. Continue straight ahead. Cross Rue de l'Abbaye and continue straight ahead. Pass the cemetery on your right and continue to a crossroads.
(9) Turn left onto Rue de l'Espérance, which ends at a dirt track. Continue along this track, which bends at a right angle to the right and runs along the edge of the forest. You will come to a small tarmac road. Keep left, still running along the edge of the forest. You will come to a wide stony track on the left.
(10) Take this path and enter the forest. Just before you come out of the forest, turn right to stay in the woods. When you reach a tarmac road, turn left to reach the abbey car park, which is about 500 m away (S/E).
