From Hennebont to Pontivy via the towpath

Or how to take a leisurely trip from Hennebont to Pontivy?
There are a few sections with cars and lots of pedestrians at the start and finish, but otherwise it's just hikers and cyclists. It's a peaceful route for walking or cycling.
The landscape changes as you follow the river, making this a peaceful walk, but it can be challenging: 60 km there (and possibly the same back).
Here and there, you will find places to quench your thirst and eat, but make sure you take everything you need with you. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the countryside.

Notes

there are 28 locks along the Blavet between Hennebont and Pontivy, and I have chosen a few to give you some landmarks, but this is just a random selection, as the distance between two locks is a maximum of five kilometres and an average of two and a half kilometres. The average gradient is less than one metre per kilometre. It is therefore a slight incline towards Pontivy.
Apart from the start and finish, there are no more than five places where you can drink and three where you can eat, so it is important to bring a picnic or something to eat. You should also plan ahead for drinks. There are benches and picnic tables along the route. The locks are often accessible by road.

This is a fairly long ride that requires physical preparation and equipment. It is best to do it with others so you can support and help each other. Here and there, you can find places to drink or eat, but most of the ride is in the countryside with nature as your only company. It's nice to only come across cars in Hennebont, Saint-Nicolas des Eaux and Pontivy. It's an easy and very pleasant route with a few roots lifting the tarmac and a few potholes.

Worth a visit

Apart from the Blavet, this route passes close to several tourist attractions: the Village de l'An Mil in Melrand, Poul Fétan, the Balade du Père Nicolas, the Château des Rohans, etc.
