From Carcassonne, head towards Narbonne. At the entrance to Trèbes, before the railway bridge, turn right onto the D3 towards Lagrasse. Drive through Fontiès-d'Aude and continue to Monze. In the centre of the village, take a road on the left (D8008) signposted as a pastoral tourist farm road. This road is passable but narrow. Continue for about 3km. At a hairpin bend on the left, continue for another 1km until you reach a forest track on the right. Park on the central reservation.

(S/E) Take the path that climbs to the left, south-east, following the markings for theGR®36variant for about 1300m. At the junction with a track, turn left.
(1) At the fork, continue to the left. The path climbs and makes an S-bend, then turns right onto the ridge at an altitude of 507m (view of the Aude plain). Further on, the path makes a half-circular loop to the right.
(2) Leave theGR®36variant and take the narrow path opposite for 300 metres.
(3) At the fork, descend to the left along a steep path for about 400m. This is the most technical section and should be negotiated with caution by inexperienced hikers.
(4) When you reach a tarmaced plateau, take the forest path that starts on the left, climbing slightly, this time following theGR®36markings. Continue along this path until you see the ruins of Miramont Castle below on the right.
(5) At the crossroads, turn left onto theGR®36variant and follow the D8008 to the finish (S/E).
