South-west coast of Jersey

To reach the starting point, Rue de la Corbière, take bus 12A or 22 from Saint Helier bus station.

(S) With your back to the bus stop, turn left and walk straight on until you reach the car park just after the right-hand bend. Take a few moments to enjoy a magnificent view of the Corbière Lighthouse.

(1) Then return along the same route to the restaurant and go round it on the left to join the coastal path at a car park. Continue left along the path that runs alongside the coast until you reach the desalination plant’s pipeline, situated slightly higher up.

(2) Cross over the pipeline, turn right to head downhill, then continue along the coastal path. Pass close to a speed camera and arrive at the perimeter of Jersey Prison.

(3) Turn right (Chemin des Signaux) and go round the prison to the south to continue along the coast to the Beauport Beach car park.

(4) The car park is on your left, and on your right are paths leading down to the beach. Follow the road for a few metres, then take the path on the right. Head down towards Sainte-Brélade Bay and, at the end of the path, continue left along the tarmac road until you reach the junction opposite the entrance to the Sainte-Brélade cemetery.
Turn right and walk round the church and cemetery to the north, following the road for a few metres until you reach the corner of the wall.

(5) At low tide, turn right onto the street leading down to the beach. On the left is the house of Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore. Walk the length of Sainte-Brélade Bay along the beach.
At high tide, take the promenade that runs along the bay. (Public toilets are available on the promenade.)
Walk to the end of the beach.

(6) Turn right up the flight of steps, then follow the path leading back up the cliff. At the top, keep to the right and continue until you reach a junction with several paths.

(7) Turn left and head for the Portelet Common car park.

(8) Turn right onto Chemin du Portelet (a quiet road), then turn right onto Rue Mont du Ouaisné; proceed along this road for about a hundred metres with caution, as it is narrow with walls on either side and heavier traffic.

(9) At the four-way junction, turn left onto Route de Noirmont and follow it for about 200 m until the next fork.

(10) Turn right onto Rue de Haut, which is narrow with walls on either side, but has little traffic and a speed limit (it is a ‘green lane’). After the straight stretch, head down towards Saint-Aubin, continue straight on to the port of Saint-Aubin (on the left, direct access to the centre of Saint-Aubin) and follow the road along the harbour to the end.

(11) Carry on to the right and follow the coast. (Public toilets a few metres away, near the beach.)

(12) At low tide, walk across the bay along the beach until it narrows, then head back up onto the promenade.
At high tide, continue along the promenade.

(13) Carry on along the promenade, skirting the Jardins de la Mer park until you reach the corner.

(14) Cross the avenue and continue to the right along the Esplanade until you reach Liberation Square, in the centre of Saint Helier (E).

Access to the starting point by bus 12A or 22 from the bus station in Saint Helier.

(8) By taking the path on the right, you can make a loop on Portelet Common, offering a view of Portelet Bay.

(12) You can return to Saint Helier, shortening the route to 10.5 km. Take bus (12, 12A, 14, 15).
