Departure from the Pré des Foires car park in Thônes.
(S/E) Head towards the historic centre.
(1) At the church, walk along the left-hand side, then turn right onto Rue des Clefs, which becomes the D12, towards Manigod and Serraval.
(2) Leave the road to Manigod on your left and continue the relatively gentle climb along the D12 to the Col du Marais.
(3) Continue straight on the D12, downhill, through Serraval, up the Col des Esserieux, then on to Saint-Ferréol.
(4) At the roundabout, take theD12A on the left towards Ugine, which joins the D1508.
(5) At the D1508 "Pont du Chenay" roundabout, take the cycle path opposite, then turn left towards Faverges, Ugine. After 10 km on this path, at Ugine, ride alongside a pond then pass under the railway bridge.
(6) Leave the cycle path and head for the roundabout a few metres away. Take the third exit, D1508, towards Annecy, which will quickly bring you to another roundabout.
(7) Immediately take the first exit, D109, towards Hery-sur-Ugine. This road climbs steadily and the ascent ends one kilometre after Hery.
(8) After passing the highest point, a rapid descent leads to the D1212.
(9) Continue left on the D1212 towards Megève. Enter Flumet and, at the end of the village, approach a roundabout.
(10) Turn left onto Route des Aravis, towards La Giettaz, Col des Aravis and La Clusaz. A few metres later, continue on the D909 which runs alongside the Arrondine river, first uphill towards Pont de la Lapiaz, then on a slight incline towards La Giettaz.
(11) At the bridge over the Arrondine, the end of the gorges, the beginning of the village of La Giettaz and the start of the 6 km climb up the Col des Aravis.
(12) The Col des Aravis is a very touristy spot, with its typical chapel. Continue on the D909, downhill, through the resort of La Clusaz, then on to the village of Saint-Jean-de-Sixt.
(13) At the roundabout, take the second exit and continue on the D909 towards Thônes. Pass Les Villards-sur-Thônes, then after about 3 km, you will reach a road junction with three separate lanes.
(14) Take the right-hand lane, then turn left to use an access road that passes under the road bridge on the left (caution: cycle path, tricky access, chicane). Immediately afterwards, continue straight ahead over the Nom bridge, Route des Saulnes, and enter Thônes. At the second roundabout, continue right towards the town centre, then join the Pré des Foires car park (S/E).
