Description of the walk

The route starts at the car park on Place Louise Mazeau, situated above the village church. Follow the signposts along the route, marked by a round disc bearing the route number (No. 2). These discs may also display other numbers, which should be ignored.

(S/E) Leave the car park by turning right into Rue du Château towards the church. At the ‘give way’ sign, turn right and follow the road towards the bridge over the Couze, without crossing it. Take the path opposite that leads up into the forest and continue to the next fork 800 m ahead.

(1) Turn right and follow the path through the forest to the Rocher du Corbeau cliff, a well-known climbing spot.

(2) Continue along the path for 400 m, turn left at the stone wall to reach the hamlet of La Vergne Basse via a fairly steep climb.

(3) Continue along the Route de la Combe Ensoleillée for about a hundred metres. Turn left onto the path that starts at this junction. Continue along the stone wall, turn right and carefully descend the path. Halfway down the slope, turn left, cross the meadow and join the path that appears before a metal gate. Then turn right and carefully make your way down towards the valley floor. Follow the path to the right until the next fork. Here, you’ll rejoin theGRP® du Beaumontois.

(4) Take it to the right and continue along the low wall, climbing the slope past a sheepfold. Join the Route de la Combe Ensoleillée. Turn left onto it and climb straight ahead towards a gate leading to the Chemin Pastoral. Follow this path, pass through the exit gate and continue to the Route de Coualong.

(5) Turn right onto it and walk carefully along this road for 400 m. Take the path on the left when you see an isolated cottage. After 100 m, turn left to go round the cottage through the woods and rejoin the path leading towards the D27 road.

(6) Cross it carefully and continue straight ahead into the forest. At the next junction, turn right. Please note: this junction is shared with two other routes, so take care to read the signs correctly. Continue to the next road at the hamlet of Coualong.

(7) Cross with care and follow the path straight ahead to Chemin des Chênes.

(8) Turn right onto the road, which continues as a forest track to Mas du Bonnet; there is no trail marker here.

(9) Turn left at the fork and head down towards the valley floor, following the path on the right-hand side. At the very bottom, turn left and make your way through the village of Bayac until you reach the car park at Place Louise Mazeau (S/E).

A pleasant hike, without any major difficulties, with beautiful landscapes to discover! The route is very well marked, except at point 9 where there are no longer any trail markers and you must follow the GPS route instructions from Visorando! I recommend it

The route is well signposted, except in one spot where you have to take a narrow path that looks like a dry stream bed; otherwise you’ll end up in the field. You’ll also come across a path with two wooden gates that are blocked by electric fence wires – though the fence isn’t working – all in the same area.

A route with no particular difficulties, clearly marked signposts and a wooded setting, ideal on hot days.

A lovely walk with stunning scenery. Very well signposted along the trail, except at point 9, where it’s best to follow the directions on Visorando as there are no signs there.
