Route du Pas du Bouc, at Le Porge

Walk along an old concrete track, 50 cm wide but clear, leading to the Étang de Langouarde and the Canal des Étangs. On the return journey, there are several options depending on the water level in the canal to reach the car park, as a marshy area has formed following the construction of the new lock.

Description of the walk

Park in the dirt car park near the Pas du Bouc lock.

(S/E) Head towards the children’s playground located about a hundred metres away (sign).

(1) Take the 50 cm wide concrete track on the left.

(2) Leave the return path on your right and continue along the track. Cross the first line and carry on to the next one.

(3) Continue straight ahead, still on the concrete path. Cross a cross-path and reach a fork where a signpost reading “Le poumon vert – Pas du Bouc car park” stands on the left.

(4) Leave the concrete path and take the sandy track, heading straight on to the Canal des Étangs, which you’ll reach near the Étang de Langouarde.

(5) Turn right onto the path running alongside the canal and walk for about 900 m.

(6) Leave the canal bank via the path on the right and continue to the first junction.

(7) Turn left and take the track that forms part of the GR®8 and the Way of St James, accessible in winter, heading towards the lock. Join the concrete track taken at the start of the walk.

(2) Turn left.

(1) Leave the concrete track and take a short detour to the left to reach the car park (S/E).
