Departure: Quai Henry Maurice Benard.
(S/E) Walk up the river along the quay towards the town. Turn left onto the inhabited bridge, then left again to reach Quai Saint-Laurent. Continue along the quay, which extends into the towpath (GR®34). Continue to the dyke opposite Île Tudy. This is a great spot for watching birds on the mudflats.
(1) Opposite the dyke, take a short detour to enjoy the view of the mouth of the Pont-l'Abbé river and Île Tudy opposite. Enter the woods via the path on the left and continue straight ahead as close as possible to the river.
(2) You will arrive near the Penglaouic Menhir, which is located in the water. Turn right and follow the stream upstream. At the footbridge, turn right and go back into the woods. At the junction with a wide path, take the dirt track through the undergrowth on the right. A little further on, turn left and follow this path which runs alongside the meadows used for the animals at the Rosquerno equestrian centre.
(3) At the small car park, continue along the small road (Chemin de Rosquerno) to Kervazégan, a former farm now an eco-museum. Turn right (transformer) in front of the house and follow a path through the woods (red markings) to reach the Manoir de Trévannec. Note the small house on the left with its old bread oven and the two carved heads on the central door of the manor house, which do not seem to be smiling.
(4) Pass the manor and its dovecote to reach a residential area. Turn left and follow the street, ignoring the first three streets on the right, to find an alleyway (Chemin du Guerdy) which bypasses the residential areas, passes close to a school on the left and leads to a staircase on the towpath.
(5) Turn left and take the path that crosses the amphitheatre de verdure, cross Rue Jules Ferry and go around the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Carmes. Cross Place des Carmes and take Rue de l'Église opposite, which leads to Rue du Château, a shopping street.
(6) Cross this street and continue along Rue Burdeau opposite. At the gate (information panel), go down into the garden, which was created in May 2017 in the former moat of the castle that houses the Museum and Town Hall. Continue along the left side of the building to reach the path bordering the pond.
(7) At the bridge, cross the road and continue along the car park on the path bordering the lake. At the road, turn right to continue on the other bank.
(8) Cross the bridge and pass behind the "Le Triskell" theatre, then turn right. Take the Chemin de l'Étang opposite, turn left then right to reach Rue de la Gare. Cross Rue Victor Hugo and continue along Rue du Penker Nevez, which ends near the ruined chapel of Lambour. Continue, go around the retirement home and continue to the shipyard. At the gate, turn right onto the grassy path that leads to the river at the site of the former campsite.
Turn right to return to the starting point (S/E).
