The Fief de Thélin Route

A typical route in the Brocéliande region with rolling moorland landscapes and narrow paths disappearing into the woods and climbing rocky outcrops. Lovely views over the Forest of Paimpont and the moors of Coëtquidan.

Description of the walk

Park around the church or near the bus shelter by the road.

Blue markings

(S/E) Head towards the cemetery and, just before the grotto, take the path on the left.

(1) Turn right onto a farm track. Pass another track on the right, then turn right at the next one.

(2) Turn left onto a path between rocks and heathland. You’ll come out onto a small road.

(3) Continue to follow the path opposite, on the left, which climbs up a rocky outcrop, very close to the N24. Go down the path to come out onto a field and a road.

(4) Walk a few metres along the road to the left, then follow the road to the right. A little further on, head up the path to the right. Continue along this path , which passes near L’Éclardais (a lovely viewpoint), then head down to reach the D259.

(5) Cross the D259 and follow the path below, which heads off to the right. Turn right onto the road, then veer left onto an uphill path leading to the old Thélin school.

(6) Turn left near the school and follow the path to a road. Follow it to the left and take a wooded path downhill.

(7) At a place called Le Rocher, turn left, then right at the next junction. Just past the farm on the left, take the grassy path on the right that leads into the woods. Keep following the main path, ignoring the ones on the right or left.

(8) After the small chalet-style house, turn left onto the path, then right onto a grassy track, and right again to come out onto a small road; follow this to the right for about fifty metres.

(9) Head up to the left along the path leading to the Rocher de Rumigny (quite a steep section). Go back down the slope once past this rock, then climb another equally steep slope. Then head down into the small valley.

(10) Pass another hiking route on the left and head up the small, damp path which may be slippery – to reach La Buslais. Turn left onto the road, then, at the pond, take another small , damp ditch overgrown with vegetation that runs alongside the properties on the right. Continue along the grassy path on the left, which runs alongside a field.

(11) At the pylon, head towards the hamlet of Les Choux Rôtis on the right. Pass close to a function room, cross a road, then head straight down towards the woods.

(12) Turn left at the junction at the 91st kilometre marker. Cross the D59. Pass thefirst street on the right.

(13) Turn right at thesecond street, cross the village along this street and, at the bend, rejoin the sunken lane taken on the way out.

(1) Turn right to reach the church (S/E).
