Small waterfall trail in Saint-Hilaire-Cusson-la-Valmitte

Start at Place du Souvenir near the war memorial.

(S/E) With the square on your right, take the D42 towards Valprivas. Cross two small streets on the left that lead to the church.

(1) Take the next left, Rue des Choffats. Continue along the dirt track on the right until you reach the hamlet of La Maisonneuve, keeping to the left.

(2) Open the gate and go down to the right to the stream. Follow the river for several hundred metres until you reach the start of the climb to the Pierre du Renard.

(3) Go up the path to the stone and the road.

(4) Take the road that climbs to the right and follow the path. Pass the small pond and take the path that climbs to the hamlet of Cusson. Pass the old wash house and bread oven, then turn left and right until you reach the road.

(5) Follow the road on the left, then take the dirt track on the left to the hamlet of Le Pin.

(6) Pass the farm by turning left and right, then turn left. Follow the path to the hamlet of Vacheresse.

(7) Turn right in front of the farm, then immediately left. Follow the road straight ahead until you reach the cemetery.

(8) Then return to the village by following the road on the left until you reach Place du Souvenir (S/E).

Between valleys and plateaus, enjoy the coolness of the Aigue-Blanche river and take in the panoramic view of the Haute-Loire mountains.
