Description of the walk

Start the walk at the car park on Place de l’Église.

(S/E) With your back to the church, head towards the cemetery then follow the street to the right. Turn right again onto Rue Sainte-Marie to reach a fork with a viewpoint over the Val de Morteau and the town.

(1) Go down the steps on the right to rejoin the street leading to the church. Turn left onto this street, then immediately right. At the junction, go down Rue de Glapinay before taking a path on the left that leads into a park.

(2) Cross the park. At the end, continue straight ahead along Rue Pasteur to reach Place de l’Hôtel de Ville.

(3) Turn left and continue to the junction, situated to the right of a kiosk. Turn right onto the street, then take Rue Gilbert Ménie opposite. At the roundabout, take the right-hand exit (Grande Rue). Walk past the war memorial and ignore the path on the right; instead, follow Grande Rue straight ahead.

(4) Turn into the first street on the left (Rue de la Guron). At the end, head down Rue Saint-Michel on the right, then turn immediately left onto Rue du Clos Jeune. Before the bend, take the path on the right which leads to Avenue Charles de Gaulle. Pass in front of the Chapel of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul.

(5) Continue along the avenue before turning right onto Rue Jean-Claude Bouquet. Go straight on for three junctions and, at the fourth, turn left onto Rue du Trépied. Take the second right, Rue Louis Pergaud, and you will reach a children’s playground.

(6) Stay on the street. At the end, turn right down Rue du Mondey. Keep heading towards the D461, Rue de l’Helvétie. Pass by the temple. At the first roundabout, go straight ahead, then at the second, take the left-hand exit onto Rue de la Gare. Do the same at the next roundabout to reach Morteau station.

(7) Turn left. Take the footbridge over the railway line. On the other side, turn right onto Chemin du Stade. Then turn left onto the footbridge over the Doubs. Once on the other side, head up the riverbank on the right and reach the entrance to the Camping du Cul de la Lune.

(8) Cross the bridge over the Doubs. Take a quick first turn right then left to pass by the Musée de l'Horlogerie (Château Pertusier). Returning to the route you took on the way there, keep left three times to reach the Église de l'Assomption de Notre-Dame and the car park (S/E).
