Paulin (hamlet of Monistrol-sur-Loire - small car park with bus shelter when arriving from Champravie, after crossing the N 88)

(S/E) At the crossroads, near the central reservation, turn left and follow the yellow markings. Quickly leave the tarmac road on the left, heading north, and pass under a power line. At the intersection with a road, turn right at an acute angle towards the south-east. Pass a junction on the left and reach a new crossroads (on the right, a road coming from Paulin offers a shortcut).
(1) Turn left and head east. Ignore a path on the right and arrive at an intersection
(2) Take the Chemin de la Perrière on the left. Pass to the right of the house. Climb between woods and farmland and join a small road. Take it to the left. Further on, turn right to join the D 12.
(3) Walk a few metres along the road on the right, then turn left towards Salgotier. Cross the hamlet and continue along the path downhill. At the perpendicular path, turn right and continue downhill. Ignore the start of a path on the left that leads to the Prat farm. Turn south until you reach the Route du Bouchet.
(4) Turn left, following the PR® "Route de l'Écureuil" trail marked with a single yellow stripe. Leave Mathevard on your right.
(5) Cross the Semène via the bridge and head towards Les Mazeaux. Pass between the houses and climb up into the woods. Continue in the open until you reach a crossroads.
(6) Go straight ahead and join a road running alongside a stadium. Turn left, then right onto Avenue Jean Bonnevialle. Head south downhill to the D 500. Turn right and follow the road for about 100 metres until you reach the junction leading to the town hall, located in the old railway station.
(7) Turn left and head towards the ZA de la Source industrial estate via Rue des Droits de l'Homme. At the end of the street, turn right onto a path that crosses the Semène via a footbridge.
(8) Continue through the Vaujalat woods and approach a new footbridge. Cross the Semène on the right to reach the leisure area (picnic area).
(9) Return to the footbridge, then turn right onto the path towards the old abbey and you will find the "official" start ofthe PR® "Les Dames de la Sauve-Bénite" (you can visit the permanent exhibition in the old abbey before setting off).

With your back to the abbey, turn right, cross a car park and go up to the road (D 500).
(10) Cross at the pedestrian crossing and take Rue de Champ des Granges opposite. Further up, continue towards the Oratoires de Sainte-Marguerite. Pass the spring near one of them. At the last houses, continue along a dirt track. Pass under a high-voltage line and turn south. Leave the Sabot houses on your right before coming out onto a small road.
(11) Follow it to the left for 150 metres. You will come to a five-way crossroads. Take the path on the right at the edge of the Suc de la Chaud knoll woods towards the south-west. Pass the access to La Goutte on your right, then turn west.
(12) At the Bois de Perpezoux crossroads, turn right towards the Bois des Dames. At the clearing, take the left fork. Keep left at the second gap in the trees. When you leave the woods, continue to the road.
(13) Take the grassy path on the right between the fields, which quickly returns to cover. Descend to the Ruisseau de Paulin and cross it. Climb back up to the Route des Murs de Paulin
(14) Turn left to return to the hamlet of Paulin, where you parked (S/E).
