Description of the walk

Park in the car park on the village square in La Feuillée, surrounded by the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and the Chapel of Saint-Houardon.

(S/E) Head west along the sunken lane at Garenn Gorc’h.

(1) Turn left at the old railway line. Join a road.

(2) Turn right to cross the D764 towards Botmeur. Continue right onto the D42 until you reach the Kerven local road at a junction.

(3) Turn left onto a dirt track leading from the gable end of a house. Cross the Kerbérou woods.

(4) Continue to the right along the road, passing Kerbargain (or Kerbarguen).

(5) 200 m after the farm, at the crossroads, turn left onto a track which, after about 1.2 km, crosses the Noster Stream and joins the D36 at a crossroads.

(6) Take the path opposite, towards Roc’h ar Bic, which reaches an altitude of 278 m at Brennilis, on the GR® 37 – GR® de Pays des Monts d’Arrée. Follow the red and white markings at the junctions.

(7) Cross the D764 to reach Coat Mocun, then continue along the road.

(8) At the first crossroads, on leaving the hamlet, turn left onto the path near the sheepfold.

(9) Cross a local road and carry on straight ahead, still following the GR® de Pays markings.

(10) After the bridge, turn left onto a sunken track. You’ll reach the village of Kermabilou. Continue along the GR® 37 – GR® de Pays des Monts d’Arrée for 1.2 km until you reach a crossroads.

(11) Leave the GR® de Pays and take a path on the left which turns into a stony track.

(12) At the first junction, head down to the left towards the Moulin de Kerelcun and its pond, then carry on straight ahead.

(13) Head up towards Kerelcun and, keeping to the left, walk through this charming hamlet. The route follows Hent Creis, then takes the third path on the right, which leads to Hent Leurger Vihan. Follow this road to the right. It bends to the left and joins a junction where a cross stands.

(14) Turn left at this junction.

(15) 100 m further on, leave the road and take a path on the right (the Kerelcun menhir is nearby). Head towards the D764.

(16) Without reaching this road, turn right and cross the Roudouhir stream. A sunken track leads to Ruguellou.

(17) Turn left twice in the village and head for the hamlet of La Feuillée (S/E) via a gravel track, then follow the road to the right.

There really is mud for at least… 40 metres, unless you’re wearing flip-flops or street shoes 👞 – you can easily get round it on the left-hand side
No particular difficulty, apart from the distance for those who aren’t used to it

The sunken path after Kerelcun is completely rutted by cattle. A solution needs to be found to allow the animals and walkers to share the path (perhaps some wooden grating in the worst-damaged sections). This is part of the GR37 route, which certainly warrants some basic maintenance.

This route presents no difficulties and involves very little elevation gain for this distance
It should be classified as ‘easy’ rather than ‘difficult’ when compared to other routes in the area
Completed in 3 hours 10 minutes, the time is also overestimated
