Circuit de Fournoulès le long du Dragonnier et du Célé

Park after the Moulin de Chaules campsite in the area reserved for rubbish bins and at the start of a path that follows the Ruisseau de la Ressègue stream.

(S/E) Carefully take the slightly uphill road (D28) for about 200 m until you reach the road sign indicating the small road on the right that leads to Fournoulès.

(1) Turn right onto this road (D225), which descends rapidly, cross the bridge over the Célé and climb a little for about 300 metres.

(2) Take the grassy path on the right (no sign) which quickly winds its way through a forest along the Dragonnier, a small stream that you should follow and which will initially be on your right. N.B. When you reach the first intersection, do not take the main track which climbs gently through the forest as this track leads to a private area.

Cross two small streams in succession and follow the path through the woods, keeping the stream on your left. Leave the main path and take the single track, which, depending on the season, may be quite overgrown, close to the stream, which you will cross again to reach a dirt track: continue along the fairly wide, shaded path on the right for 500 metres (passing under a fence) which leads to a meadow: cross the meadow in front of you to a water intake and take the path that climbs towards Lueys (close the fences behind you). Pass between the houses at a place called "Lueys" and take the small access road that climbs for about 300 metres, then turn left onto the grassy, wooded path to Aiguedoux

(3). Follow the road to the left to La Réganade. Continue left on the road for 1 km, passing the place called Le Mont. This section of road is not very busy with cars, but may seem long as it is not completely shaded.

(4) At the fork, keep left, staying on the D225. Enter Fournoulès.

(5) After the town hall, turn right onto the road towards Roquebrune. Then pass the access road to the locality on your right and continue straight ahead.

(6) Take a grassy path on the right (not very visible and unmarked) which descends through the woods to the Célé. Cross the river using a tree trunk, then cross the field to take the forest track which climbs steeply in fairly sharp bends to the main road.

N.B. If you cannot find this access point, you can continue along the path on the left to Moulin du Clout, cross the stream, then climb up to the main road and follow it carefully to the left until you reach the initial fork.

(7) Turn left and carefully follow the D28.

(1) Continue on the D28 to the car park (S/E).

Charming campsite (bar-restaurant) open from April to September.

A few landmarks marked with yellow spray paint, but not very visible.

Fournoulès offers another 2-hour signposted hike starting from the church (Le sentier des Puechs) with beautiful views of two Monts du Cantal mountains in good weather.
