Description of the walk

Parking is available on Rue de l'Ouvrage in Meroux.

(S/E) Head south-west along the Ouvrage de Meroux.
After 100 metres, turn right, passing in front of a farm shed. The path then goes around the cemetery on the left.

(1) Cross Rue de Belfort (D23) and continue straight ahead. After 100 metres, continue right on the tarmac road, which is closed to cars except for residents. Go straight ahead. At the crossroads in Patheret, take the gravel path on the right. After 150 metres, a sign invites you to turn right.

(2) Cross the D25. The route arrives at Fort Ordener and runs along its western and southern sides. Turn right at the corner of the fort and then continue straight ahead. The path crosses the channel that feeds the Rhône-Rhine Canal from the Champagney basin.

(3) When you reach the D23, turn right. 200 metres further on, turn right onto Rue du Lavoir, then make a slight right-left turn to pass in front of the town hall. The route rejoins the D25.

(4) Turn left. At the next two crossroads, continue straight ahead. Cross the D23 towards Moval. After 100 metres, turn right onto Rue de l'Ouvrage, which takes you back to the starting point (S/E).

Hello,

A nice, pleasant little hike despite the cold.
The route is simple and easy, despite a few muddy sections (which is normal at this time of year).

A fairly easy, short walk. Relatively flat and straightforward. Much of the walk takes place in the town towards the end.
Please note that after recent rain, the farm was muddy and one side of the fort was almost impassable.
Ideal for families and not too long.
