Park your vehicle at the Pré Puisat car park. Picnic area.
(S/E) From the car park, continue north along the forest road. Leave a path on your right and join the Combe d'Armée, about one and a half kilometres after the starting point.
(1) At this point, turn left onto a path that climbs steeply to reach the Table des Princes. Just before this, you will have passed the Grande Vie trail to the south-west.
(2) At the Table des Princes, the path becomes steeper and a series of switchbacks lead to the foot of the ladders.
Three successive metal ladders allow you to cross the cliff obstacle.
After the third ladder, you will reach a viewpoint with an orientation table.
Continue climbing north through the forest on the path that soon joins a wider track. Continue straight ahead, heading north, keeping an eye on the markings, as there are many tracks and paths in this area, some of which are marked and some of which are not.
The route passes the intersection of the Pierre Gravée.
(3) Go straight ahead until you reach La Croix du Signal, which is 50 metres from the path on the right.
(4) After passing the Croix viewpoint, return to the path and continue walking north for one and a half kilometres until you reach a trail that descends to the right. It is signposted and is the only one since the Croix.
(5) The path passes near the Source de la Rouge before ending up on the wide Contrat track.
(6) At this intersection, turn right and continue along this track for a long time heading south. Ignore several crossings on the left and right. The information on the directional signs can be confusing.
The track will come out onto familiar ground at Combe d'Armée.
(1) Follow the forest road to return to the vehicles in the Pré Puisat car park (S/E).

the starting point needs to be corrected: You need to go up to the Col de l'Épine via Saint Sulpice, at the top of the pass, descend for 500 metres and park in the Pré Puisat car park. You then need to go through the barrier ( closed to vehicles) and walk for about 2 kilometres along a tarmac forest road to finally find the path the return from point 6 to 1 is very difficult on this forest road in a Balthazar vehicle and is of no interest. The rest of the hike is great
