Start:Park in the Mirador de Sámara car park on the TF-38 road from Santiago del Teide, via Chio, to Teide National Park, just a few minutes from Parador Las Cañadas del Teide.
(S/E) Descend a few steps to reach the start of the trail, which is well marked and signposted, making it impossible to get lost. Quickly reach the crossroads of the S-13 Sàmara path (the path on the right will be our return path). Continue straight ahead and begin an easy climb to a ridge.
(1) Turn left and continue along the ridge to reach the Mirador de Sámara, with its panoramic views over the Teno Rural Park and the islands of La Gomera and Palma.
(2) Return to the ridge and continue uphill on a short descent before starting a gentle ascent through sparse Canary pines. Follow this beautiful path up the side of the Montaña del Botija. Climb up a small valley to reach a small pass.
(3) Here you can turn left to reach another viewpoint at the top of this small hill. Return to the collet and continue uphill on the false-flat path through a landscape of volcanic chaos. Reach another collet, the crossroads of several trails at the highest point of this loop.
(4) Descend to the right, still on the S-13 Sàmara trail. Follow it downhill through the ash and enjoy the view over La Gomera. You'll come to some very sparse Canary pines and the junction with trail S-32 Abeque.
(5) Continue straight ahead on the S-13, back to the starting crossroads. Turn left towards the steps to reach the Mirador de Sàmara car park (S/E).
