Departure point: Place de l'Amour opposite the town hall in Flat.
(S/E) Take Rue des Deux Fontaines, pass the fountain with the cross on your left, then take the street opposite, Chemin des Écoliers, continuing straight on until you reach a four-way crossroads.
(1) Take the sloping road opposite, reach La Malcourtie, and head towards the large fountain in the centre of the square.
(2) Take thesecond street on the right and continue along the dirt track. Walk along this path overlooking the plain on the south side.
(3) At the five-way crossroads, take the path that climbs to the left, then the road to the right at La Suchère. Pass an old stone wash house on your left and continue to the intersection with a sandy dirt track on your right. Take this track, walk alongside a grove of trees on your right, then continue straight ahead, enjoying the view to the north of rolling hills and cultivated fields. The crossroads is marked by a fountain and wash house on your left at a place called Les Fougères.
(4). Continue straight ahead, passing another fountain and drinking trough on your left, against the wall of the houses. At the three-way junction, with an oratory, turn right and follow the road, cross the bridge and reach the next fork.
(5) Turn left at the low wall along the bend, continue for 25 metres to the intersection, turn left, and pass in front of the fountain. Continue to the second path on the left, which leads to a rectangular wash house on the ground, surrounded by a stone enclosure, directly on your right. Turn around and return to the main path.
(5). Climb up to Saint-Babel and pass a large wash house with four basins on the left-hand side of the street. Turn left at the next intersection, rejoin the road and take the small staircase that climbs up behind the church on the square in front of the town hall of Saint-Babel, on the right-hand side of the street. On the square, turn left, rejoin the municipal road and pass the first fountain with two lion heads.
Follow the road uphill and pass the second fountain with lion heads, continue straight on until you reach the third fountain of the same type.
(6) After 10 metres, take the small road that descends to the left towards Les Estrigons. Continue straight ahead and pass a magnificent wash house and its "draguoir" (water trough) on the right-hand side of the road. Continue for 200 metres and cross the D14. Follow the dirt track opposite (section ofGR® 33).
(7) At the end of the path, follow the tarmac road to the left and, in the left-hand bend, take the path on the right towards the farm buildings. At the road, turn right and continue for about 50 metres.
(8) Take the path on the left and follow it straight ahead to La Messanie. Pass through a section that offers a superb view of Saint-Babel and its surroundings, with its landscape marked by hills and plains, then overlooking the plain to the south-southeast. At the first houses of La Messandie, take the tarmac road on the right for 50 metres and find a grassy path on the left.
(9) Follow it for about 100 metres and, at the intersection, go straight ahead until you reach a four-way crossroads. Continue straight ahead until you reach La Malcourtie.
(2) Cross the square with the large fountain and take the road down to Flat.
(1) Take the road on the right and pass in front of the cemetery. Then take Rue Traversière on the left and immediately take the alley on the right. Cross Route de la Tour and pass through Place de la Fontaine de Flat.
(10) Walk past the church, then take Rue des Druides on the right at the end of the square. Take the small grassy path downhill and, at the intersection, turn left and rejoin the tarmac road.
Continue to the left, pass in front of the wash house and its draguoir, then take the road that goes up to the left towards Flat. Pass in front of a fountain-wash house leaning against the retaining wall, continue on Rue de la Fontaine de l'Âne and arrive at Place de l'Amour (S/E).
