Château d'Aurouze and Palhàs de Molompize

(S/E) Park in the Molompize town hall car park. Walk down Rue des Palhas, cross the RN122 on a protected crossing (take care) and continue to the banks of the Alagnon (picnic table available).

(1) Walk along the river on the left, then cross the old campsite and turn right to walk along the RN122 road on the footpath.

(2) Cross the RN122 road at a pedestrian crossing (take care), then take the track that climbs up to the castle. At the fourth bend, take the path on the right that leads to the ruined castle of Aurouze (do not approach the walls) and go to the end of the terrace to enjoy the view.

(3) Turn back to rejoin the track on the right and continue climbing the basalt plateau to the village of Trémoulet.

(4) Turn slightly left onto the road for 200 metres, then turn left onto a sheep track. After 100 metres, go through a gate (make sure you close it behind you) and continue along a small path on the hillside. After a second gate, bear slightly left for 100 m and follow a track that leads to the vineyard terraces called "Palhàs" below and above the track. Beautiful view of the village of Molompize.

(5) At the entrance to the vineyard, take a small path on the right, which leads back to the main path that passes behind the town hall and leads to the car park (S/E).

At point (1): pleasant picnic table.

Between (S/E) and (1): "La Table des Palhàs" bar and restaurant - call ahead for lunch.
