Rummel Waterfalls – Étang des Roseaux – Refuge de la Grande Goutte

A very pleasant walk, easily accessible to everyone, both in terms of difficulty and navigation. It starts from a car park on the edge of the forest and follows, for the most part, a forest track. This passes by the magnificent Rummel waterfalls, then leads to the beautiful site of the Étang des Roseaux. You then cross the Plain de l'Épine forest briefly to reach the Grande Goutte clearing and its refuge, a haven of peace between Haute-Saône and Ballon d'Alsace.

Description of the walk

Park in the small, shaded, free car park located on a hairpin bend on the D465.

(S/E) Take the only forest road available after passing through the barrier. You will reach a junction.

(1) Continue straight on, along the same road, until you reach the Étang des Roseaux.

(2) Continue along the forest road, which further on turns into a track. You will reach a three-way junction.

(3) Keep left. Head straight on at the junction about fifty metres further on, then reach a T-junction.

(4) Continue straight ahead, keeping to the right, and head for the Refuge de la Grande Goutte.

(5) The return journey follows the same route in the opposite direction to the car park (S/E).

This walk leads, without any major difficulty, to the Col du Ballon. It begins on a forest track leading to the beautiful Étang du Petit Haut, which makes a good spot for a break.
